About Pharoahe

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My style of play is smart, physical and skillful. I can help ball handlers bring the ball up the court with my strong passing and court vision. In the post I am stronger than most players. I can use my body to get close to the backboard where I have excellent touch by the basket. On the defensive side I am able to impact the game defensively by defending the interior without fouling out.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a hard working and positive player that plays to win and consistently sacrifices for my teammates. My best assets are my intelligence, I have shown the ability to lead role players on my team by giving them good advice. I play to win and sacrifice for my teammates.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I played in the world percussion ensemble at my former school, Columbus International during my 10th grade year. As a freshman I played drums in class and helped the concert band with staging and production during live performances. I earned honor roll each of my first eight quarters at International. I also earned the Academic Excellence Award as a freshman from the varsity basketball team.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Volunteered with Howard Recreation Center's Summer Camp for four years. Howard is ran by the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. I helped to train student between the ages of 8 to 15 in basketball fundamentals. I also helped to serve lunches and breakfasts to campers. I learned leadership, patience and care for youth who are the beginning stages of learning a skill.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My biggest challenges have been people being amazed by my size in everyday life. It leads to sometimes being harassed and unwanted attention. I also had to overcome a speech delay and work very hard on reading an comprehension issues. I am proud to say that I have made Honor Roll every quarter (eight-times) in high school.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college that specializes in new media and also has music and art opportunities.

If Zaire can improve his conditioning and continue to develop confidence with the ball in his hands, he’ll be one of the most productive bigs in the Columbus City League on a Northland team that’s looking to continue their dominance in the city league.
