Expert Analysis
Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
The combo forward averaged over 11 points and nearly 4 rebounds per game during his junior season. Aguolu has good size, is an above-average athlete, and offers versatility as a scorer. He is most effective attacking the rim and operating inside the arc, where he can use his physical tools, while showing an improving perimeter jump shot. Defensively, he adds value with the ability to guard multiple positions.

Odita Agolu is a supremely athletic big man for Miller School who impressed in the semifinals. Oditas runs like a gazelle in transition and threw down a nasty oop that shifted momentum in his team’s favor. Odita showcases a high feel for the game filling the lane perfectly during the fastbreak and finding the gap in set defenses for rebounds. Odita also has made the majority of his free throws which is important for a big man who attacks the rim with bad intentions.

Aguolu showcased his ability to play inside and out for his Miller squad. He connected on three 3 pointers in a loss versus Chaminade (NY). He uses his long arms to collect rebounds. I like how he is able to fill the lane in transition. He has the ability to play above the rim. He finished with a team high 21 points in the game I evaluated of him. I like the energy he plays with anytime he steps onto the floor. He is a prospect who should see a ton of foot traffic from division one coaches over the next several months.

The junior averaged 18 points in a two game split for the Miller School. Aguolu showed of an improved jump shot from beyond the arc to go along with his size and above average athleticism. A prospect that I could see rising in the state’s 2027 class, the junior has plenty of upside.

14p 5r 2s vs Clinton Grace
-Aguolu was one of the few prospects that looked like he belonged athletically on a floor shared with Clinton Grace’s fleet of athletic guards and wings. Aguolu relentlessly attacked closeouts to finish above the rim, had an acrobatic lay off the backboard, knocked down a face up 3, ripped through from the corner and scored with the inside hand off the window with his back to the basket, and had an explosive help side block off the backboard. The rising junior is a super dynamic athlete that can guard multiple positions, push the pace in transition, and fill the wings when his team goes guard-heavy. With great positional size, a diverse skillbase, and a motor that runs pretty hot– he should be a recruit that D1 coaches prioritize this season.

Odita is due for a productive season at Miller as he fills the role as a swiss army knife that can play either forward spot thanks to his blend of size, athleticism, and strength. He’s a prideful defender who showed he’s more than willing to communicate both on and off the ball. He can closeout quickly on his man, chop his feet, and provide pressure without fouling despite his active hands and intense approach. That intensity comes to light on the offensive side as well in the form of rim-rocking finishes. He’s best operating in isolations or kick-outs where he can attack his man and finish through contact at the rim, but Aguolu showed off some improved fluidity with his jumper over the weekend as well. If he can continue to improve as a floor-spacing threat, it’ll really open up his game as a driver and not to mention, help this Miller team put together yet another successful season.
