Carey is one of the better athletes in this entire division. The 6-foot-5 wing has super long arms and gets well above the rim for finishes and dunks. He can take contact, he can convert with both hands, and he isn’t afraid to get knocked down a couple times. The senior can also make shots from the perimeter and has a clean pull-up jumper. I’m not sure Carey has enough help for Amherst to make a run, but he could have some special performances.

Carey, out of Amherst Regional High School in Massachusetts, checks in at #41 among the small forwards and #188 overall. Carey got some recent press from us for the impact he makes as a scorer in the MIAA, but that should take away from the overall well-roundedness of his game. The 6’5″ athlete is a terrific defender that can guard up or down a position, rebounds the basketball at a high rate, and offers some rim protection from the help side. Offensively, he’s really good in transition where his physical gifts shine, while also showing the ability to make timely scoring cuts in the half-court. He should be a priority recruit at the Division III level this winter.

Carey, a senior forward out of Amherst Regional High School, has gotten off to a hot start this winter, hitting double digits in all four of his team’s games so far, including passing the 20-point mark on two occasions. On opening night, against South Hadley, he pumped in 26 points, including 5 made three pointers. A big, physical wing that plays with above the rim athleticism on both ends of the floor, he’s really evolved as a scorer witht the ability to get it done at all three levels. On the other end, he’s disruptive in space and does a great job of turning defense into transition offense.
