thrives in a rugged and high energy style of play that embraces contact. His combination of power, burst, and body control make him a versatile offensive threat and a disruptive presence defensively. Johnson consistently attacked the basket with force, turning steals and stops into transition opportunities, creating advantages off the dribble, and carving out deep post position for efficient scoring chances. Johnson’s also shown growth as a perimeter shooter while making his presence felt on the boards through relentless effort and physicality.
The catalyst for this 16U Rens group offensively and generating loud scoring performances, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see college programs start to show be even more intrigued with not only Johnson’s current skillset but the strides he’s making in his overall development.

I got to see Johnson at EYBL Session I and he stood out with his high activity level from the wing position. A very aggressive player, Johnson seeks out contact on both ends of the court and wants to use his frame to gain an advantage on the defense. Finishing fourth in EYBL Session I at the 16 U level in scoring, Johnson’s motor and aggression helps him score a majority of his points. One of a handful of players ranked from New Jersey in our national 2028 rankings, Johnson is a headline name from one of the best classes in years from the Garden State.

used his unique combination of strength and high level athleticism to generate offense in a variety of ways while also impacting the game on the defensive end of the floor. Embracing his identity as a relentless downhill attacker, Johnson consistently got to the basket, combining strength and burst to attack driving lanes, turn defensive stops into fastbreak finishes, establishing position in the low post for easy scoring chances all while also displaying increased confidence from the perimeter. Johnson was also extremely impactful on the glass, winning battles on the boards and snatching rebounds out the air.

Johnson plays with an immense deal of physicality whenever he is on the floor. His motor is one of the best parts of his game which allows him to will his way to scoring chances frequently and make plays on both ends of the floor. He showed some flashes from three but is by no means a dead-eye from out there. He was in good spots to secure rebounds. I liked how Johnson can score coast to coast. Anytime he is has the ball in his hands there is a high chance he can make something happen.

once again reaffirmed that notion, using his blend of strength and glaring athleticism to open so much offense for himself— turning defensive stops into explosive finishes in transition, above the rim putbacks on the offensive glass, using his burst to aggressively attack the basket and get downhill, while also leveraging his strength to capitalize off deep seals against weaker defenders in the low post area and convert on easy layups.

‘s sophomore campaign not only saw him reaffirm his reputation as one of the state’s most athletically gifted prospects but also add layers to his game necessary to his longterm development. Maintaining that notion as an ultra aggressive downhill attacker, Johnson was relentless in getting to the rim— blending a combination of forceful strength and rapid explosiveness to attack driving angles off the bounce for highlight above the rim finishes. More impressive though was growth in countering that aggressive rim pressure with his developing guard skills and outside shooting touch— becoming increasingly more confident and more efficient from three point range as a perimeter shooter while also exuding a stronger and more confident handle. Having taken the requisite strides in becoming a more refined wing, Johnson’s development will be interesting to track going forward seeing how far his guard skills develop going forward.

One of the more highly-touted sophomores in the region, Johnson was stopped only by foul trouble on his way to a hard-nosed 20-point effort. The rugged lefty was a force to be reckoned with around the basket, using a blend of strength and explosiveness to finish effectively on cuts, downhill drives, putbacks, and in transition. He consistently played strong through contact, sticking to his bread-and-butter interior game without anyone being able to truly take it away. Johnson would wind up fouling out with several minutes left to play but was able to show his high-level ability nonetheless.

The highest-ranked prospect in the game, Johnson used his hard-charging downhill style to rack up a team-high 18 points in a near double-double effort. The southpaw showed a blend of explosiveness and budding skill while attacking the rim relentlessly off the bounce, particularly to his favored left hand. He knocked down a perimeter jumper to start the game but otherwise was focused on his bread and butter, which the defense was never able to fully take away. Johnson was engaged on the defensive end while guarding across the entire lineup and showed good communication for being just an underclassman. He has to continue working to refine his skillset but Johnson nonetheless showed why he’s among the more productive swingmen in his class.

Johnson strung together a solid performance showing that he did not have to be a go to scorer to leave his impact on the game. He has the ability to be an elite defender and made a few plays on that end of the floor to back it up, including getting his hands on a shot that Erie Prep took before the buzzer that if it went in it would’ve sent the game to overtime. Johnson does a nice job slashing to the bucket. Johnson had 13 points in the win with 10 in the 2nd half. His length allows him to get blocks. He found ways to get steals.

Perhaps the most powerful and explosive athlete in the gym, Johnson made a strong run at camp MVP honors in our viewing with his relentless attacking style. The rugged lefty was impossible to keep from the front of the rim, blowing by defenders off the bounce or finishing opportunistically off cuts or leakouts with a series of highlight dunks. He continues to flash improving polish with his ballhandling and shooting, which will be key areas to track for the highest levels moving forward, but Johnson’s ability to consistently thrive with his bread-and-butter downhill attack has already attracted the eye of several high-major programs.
