showed why he’s a Toledo commit with a strong second half. After scoring five first-half points on a tough layup and pull-up three, he settled in as New Albany ran more offense through him. He finished through contact, knocked down a big three, and added a pair of steals that led to a momentum-changing dunk. Mattucci capped it with another dunk on a backdoor cut to start the 4th and finished with 16 points, scoring at all three levels.

Mattucci has had a busy fall attending various fall leagues, showcases and other events to show how competitive he is as a player. With such a thin margin between players around this range in our rankings, it didn’t take a lot for us to bump Mattucci up a few spots. Impressive performances at early season scrimmages suggest that Mattucci will be one of the top players in Ohio and New Albany should contend for a state title this winter.

Grassroots teammates of Calloway, Mattucci has looked dominant in early season scrimmage action for a New Albany squad that thinks they can make it out of a crowded Division II region in central Ohio. Mattucci has improved his athleticism and is dunking on people and blocking shots. Those types of highlights could help his case if any voters can’t make it out to many New Albany games this winter.

The lone Division I commit in the fall league did not disappoint as Mattucci is one of the top shooters and overall players in central Ohio. With the positional size to rise up over smaller defenders and improved athleticism to play above the rim, Mattucci is a handful for opposing teams to stop. Playing with a couple New Albany teammates, expectations should be high in a highly contested Division II in central Ohio.

The lone Division I commit in the fall league, Mattucci is clearly a tier above the competition. Moving at a different speed on the ball, Mattucci got to the paint whenever he wanted using a variety of dribble moves. Able to play above the rim, Mattucci had a couple breakaway dunks and finished through traffic. It was nice to see Mattucci start to dominate as a slasher after some early jumpers didn’t fall. Another underrated part of his game is his passing ability, which should help him as a ball mover at the college level. One of the top prospects in central Ohio, Mattucci is set for a monster senior season.

After excelling at the Prep Hoops Ohio State tournament, Mattucci continues to impress with quality play with New Albany to start the month of June. What I’ve been most impressed with Mattucci is his ability to play above the rim, throwing down some sweet dunks in the half-court with both his right and left hands. Known as one of the best shooters in Ohio with a high feel for the game, you can tell Mattucci has worked on his athleticism and it has paid off with some crazy highlights already this summer.

Mattucci is best when he is downhill and is going to make you stop him. He is a true three-level scorer and showed this on Sunday. He can get to the rim in transition and in the halfcourt. His growing size and athleticism allow him to dictate contact. He was able to get to the free-throw line a lot. This opens up the court for him as a true offensive weapon. He is a player that as a defender you do not know what you’re trying to stop because Mattucci has a counter for everything.

Mattucci is a different player in an AAU setting. He thrives with more weight on his shoulders surrounded by good players. He shows a great ability to get in the lane and create for himself and others. He has a really nice change of speed that gets him by the defense and into the 2nd layer. He does not seem to be playing too fast. He is a skilled player who can score from all three levels. He continues to get bigger too, making him a really good size for the next level.

One of the more impressive perimeter prospects at The Stage, Mattucci showcased his high-level shooting ability and excellent positional size throughout the weekend for NOVA Village as they dominated the competition and finished 4-0. The 6’4″ guard is ranked as a Top 20 prospect in the state of Ohio and it was easy to see why. Look for him to garner a lot of college interest as NOVA heads to the UAA Circuit after getting their tuneup in at The Stage.

I was impressed with how Mattucci controlled the game as a passer on Sunday, dropping I believe five first half assists. He was making quick decisions with the ball in his hands and had a variety of assists including passes to cutters, kickouts to shooters and set lob plays. After being the setup guy early, Mattucci found his range with a handful of set 3-pointers that extended New Albany’s lead and they would coast as a 3-pointer by Mattucci just before the halftime allowed New Albany to cruise in the second half.
