As the lead ball handler for this Lumen Christi team, Tropea was confident with the ball in his hands and didn’t shy away from ball pressure. Luke can knock down the three, which causes defenders to fly out at him, but he has a nice pump fake. It might not show up in the box score, but it’s the little things that count. Another thing Tropea does well is setting great screens. Whether they are designed or not, they are smart, heady screens that result in very good looks for his teammates. A guard being willing and smart enough to set quality screens is rare to come by.

Tropea ended a terrific high school career. A great guard and one of the classiest opponents you’d ever want to play. He was patient on offense and was a willing passer. Tropea did give us a look at the range on his jumper when hit a deep 3 with a hand in his face. I loved the way that he led his team. Tropea was vocal and able to direct traffic offensively for his team.

Tropea is an underrated lead guard. Under the true definition of a “lead guard”, he can both distribute and score at a very high level. Tropea has a natural feel for the action and will find teammates in scoring positions. That being said, he can go get a bucket when his team needs one.

Tropea is one of better pure point guards in the state of Michigan. His basketball IQ is truly elite. He feels the game and recognizes what his team needs at any given moment. Tropea can advance the ball off the bounce and will get it where it needs to go. If his team needs a bucket, he has the ability to attack the lane and score and also has an excellent jumper from behind the arc.

Coaches love a coach on the floor, so adding Tropea to a program will thrill a coach at the next level. He has a terrific feel for the game. Tropea has shown since the summer that he can create with his handles and get buckets for his team.

Tropea had a bit of a coming out party this summer as he was tremendous in grassroots season. I’ll pat myself on the back because I’ve said it for years now – the young man can stack up with best lead guards in the state. Why? Because of his game between the ears and his ability to know how to win. Tropea is a true student of the game that a coach can trust to make high percentage decisions with the basketball.

I was lucky enough to see Tropea play in Lansing this spring and he made it well worth the trip. I’ve been saying for years now that he can line up with some of the best lead guards in the state. Well, he’s doing a great job of making me look way smarter than I am. Tropea has shown that he’s brought his offensive game and scoring abilities to a whole new level.

Tropea was one of the most impressive players at the Moneyball Shootout. He led his InspireU team to a championship at the event by being a bucket getting floor general. Tropea is one of the highest IQ point guards in the state in my opinion. His ability to create looks for himself while also finding teammates in scoring positions really stood out.
