If you made an All Tournament team for the Rumble in the Rapids, all 5 starting players might come from The Academy . They simply wiped the floor with every team they faced over the 3-day event, and Broden Burgess was a major standout in their final game of the weekend.
Broden is so fast in transition; his team creates a turnover and before you can blink, he’s at the opposite hoop converting a layup. In Sunday’s blowout win over Common Bond , Broden scored 24 points in a game that was stopped four minutes early. And to the best of his memory, only two of his baskets weren’t fast-break points.
Broden plays on an elite team, but he’s already turning into a crucial part of the lineup. He’s an elite distributor and has slick handles. He loves showing off behind-the-back passes or acrobatic layups under the hoop. And he plays very smart when the ball is in his hands.
After the final game, Broden said that he wishes he could have made a few more 3-pointers over the weekend, but his two-point shots were doing plenty of good for The Academy .

Burgess will be a key player on a really talented Lumen Christi squad. He’s a steady guard that can handle, but doesn’t over dribble. Burgess has the ability to play on or off the ball. We’d love to see him put his steady game on display at the camp.

Burgess is definitely a player that some schools will want on their radar. He goes to his right with physicality and can finish in and through traffic. Burgess takes a straight line to the rim and can use a nice hesitation dribble to get there. I really like his ability to change speeds with the ball in his hands and he has a nice speed burst that can put defenders on his hip.
