Ashton led a unit from The Acadamy that absolutely wiped the floor with every team in their path. There were some really great programs at Rumble in the Rapids, but Callan and The Academy made them all look like middle schoolers playing against varsity; winning every game by at least 25 points and having every game shortened due to the mercy rule.
Callan is an enormous part of why this team functions so well. He’s tough in the paint, he has tremendous court vision, and possesses fabulous ball-handling skills.
At 6’3″, Ashton doesn’t have the size of a true post player, but he plays like it at times. He fights hard for shots on offense, and can be a shot-disrupter on defense. He scored in double figures in each game of the tournament, and would have likely had 5+ assists in every game. He’s so quick in transition that he’ll often grab a rebound, and already know that one of his teammates is moving quickly up the floor-and fires the ball ahead for a fast break assist.
Callan’s coach believes that Ashton is headed for Division I basketball down the road. His father played college basketball, and there are a lot of programs who would want a kid with a motor like Ashton’s.
Playing on a program with as many talented players as The Academy has to offer, it’s fun to see Ashton’s full range of talents on full display.

Ashton’s performance on night one was only hampered by the fact that his team was highly overmatched against their opponent. Leading for at least 20 points for much of the game, Ashton never needed to step too much into the spotlight. But even still, a viewer could quickly see that he was one of the best players on the court.
At 6’3′, Ashton cuts an imposing presence as a point guard. He possesses tremendous court vision and elite ball-handling skills. He always knows where to find an open teammate, but can also easily beat an opposing double-team off the bounce.
Ashton scored 18 points, and was a key distributor to his team’s 6’8″ big man. And afterwards he said that he enjoys getting to the basket, but also believes that he excels at advancing the ball.
Ashton is the floor general of a unit from The Academy that will be a tough out this weekend in Grand Rapids.

A big guard who is a phenomenal passer, especially in transition after securing a rebound. He sees the floor at a high level with great instincts and a feel for where the ball needs to go. Callan is also a strong finisher with a quick first step that allows him to attack and create advantages.

Callan has been regarded as one of the top players in the class of 2028 since before he stepped in a high school basketball game. He continues to prove it to be correct. Lumen Christi picked up a marquee 59-57 win against Detroit Loyola, another team with Breslin Center type talent. Callan paced his team with 21 points in the victory.

Callan has looked like a leader since he became a high schooler. He carries himself like a leader – classy, confident and skilled. Callan never spoke like an inexperienced freshman. Instead, he made himself coachable and played and understood the game at a leadership level.

I’ve thought Callan was a a top 10 prospect in the class of 2028 since before his freshman season. Dropping 30 plus points against the defending state champion Riverview Gabriel Richard certainly didn’t hurt that claim. Callan was able to slice through the defense and attack and score near the rim. The thing that was maybe the most notable was his sheer size. Callan has gotten bigger and stronger and even tougher to stop.

Callan was a standout last year at the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase and we’d like to see him show how far his game has come. Callan was an instant impact freshman on a very good Lumen Christi team last high school season. He’s a high IQ player that makes good decisions with the ball and knows what a good look at the rim looks like.

has reaffirmed my belief that he’s one of the best prospects in this class. He’s had some really good runs with O3 this spring. There might not be a more efficient 2028 guard in the state that Callan. He willingly shares the basketball and is more than happy to push pace with the pass.

Watched twice over the weekend due to his team getting all the way to the championship. Today was no different than yesterday scoring 19 in the semi-finals. Very versatile with the basketball. Shares it consistently well off of turnovers or D boards and pushes it ahead to teammates. A solid finisher in transition. Great court vision. Was at times playing the 1 – 4 roles depending on schemes. From the elbow on the catch made a cool spin move off dribble for an And1. Cut to the basket on an EOB set for a quick deuce. Smooth player to keep a watch on.

Ashton played a very impressive game as a freshman. Callan is a creative scorer; many times, his team looked to him to create his own shot, which he did quite well. Ashton was able to get downhill and show off some crafty finishes. Callan is a capable shooter from three-point range; however, at times, he seemed timid to let it fly.
