Lucas does all the little things very well as he boxes out every possession and attacks the glass to get boards. He runs the lane smoothly in transition, always filling the lanes that are empty. McClendon attacks the ball well with both of his hands, being just as agressive with his off hand as he is with his dominant hand. He’s gonna have a big season with NW Drip.

McClendon dealt with some nagging injuries this summer and wasn’t able to play all that much, but what has me excited about his junior year is his move over to Auburn Mountainview. He’s a big guard who’s still working to develop his skills as a point, so being able to play alongside another budding junior who can play both point and off-guard (

Lucas is a sophomore who I think will get a good amount of playing time on the court. He has earned it too, showing a lot of improvement over the summer while playing AAU. He’s a very patient and attacking type of guard who knows how to use his size. His strength to convert at the rim is a lot better than most in his class. He has a good handle to get to the open driving lanes . When he gets there, he finishes well through traffic, going straight at defenders with no mercy.

Lucas has a great first step. He’s able to blow by his defender and get to the bucket. He finishes through traffic very well, using his body exactly how he should. I saw quite a bit of improvement from him over the summer. He’s grown a little bit and grew into his body well. He hits the three just as good as anyone within the 2025 class and has a ton of potential. He should have a solid sophomore campaign.

McClendon already fits the mold of a patient, attacking point guard who uses his size and strength to convert at the rim on the regular. He has a good handle and sets up his defenders well to open driving lanes then burst through them to the rim. When he gets there, he has a number of finishes in his bag, going straight at defenders, or finessing the shot up around and through a sea of arms. He should get plenty of run at Graham Kapowsin this season and get the opportunity to see how his play matches up against some of the best in the state.
