Expert Analysis

Federico scored the ball inside and out and was able to score a surplus of points throughout the night. He pushed the ball ahead and connected with his teammates for scoring chances. Federico got shots to fall from three throughout the night. Like how he was able to make an extra pass to get a better shot. His ability to play above the rim was seen during the contest. Thought he was patient with his scoring attempts. Used his length to make an impact on defense.

Luca’s Wildcat Select squad found themselves down big in their final Midwest Mania matchup last weekend, but his shooting was a huge spark in their comeback. He came alive in the second half and made his presence felt powered by a high motor. Luca knocked down a deep 3PT attempt to start his team’s run and didn’t look back from there. He went on to knock down another about midway through the half. With more confidence than anyone on the court, Luca’s third long distance connection came in crunch time and tied the ball game with only 90 seconds left in regulation. More than anything, he showed a lot of heart down the stretch.

He poured in 31 points 15 of which came in the. 4th quarter, scoring in a plethora of ways and at all three levels throughout the game. He thrives when he’s able to slow the pace and operate under control, dictating tempo on his terms. Federico made a living at the charity stripe, going 9-of-12 from the line, and was highly efficient overall at 10-of-15 from the field. His length allowed him to disrupt driving and passing lanes to generate steals, and he positioned himself well to rebound. One of my favorite parts of his game is when he uses his post game down low, I am glad he hasn’t forgotten how to use that. Another thing I liked was showing the discipline to wall up inside at times instead of trying block every shot. I really like the steady progression he continues to show as the season unfolds.

One of the hottest prospects in the greater Pittsburgh area, Federico continued his impressive sophomore season by leading Chartiers Valley to an impressive win over Lutheran West. Federico scored within the flow of the offense, not forcing the issue. I was impressed with how well Chartiers Valley moved the ball, usually getting open shots with their feet set. Federico also showed off his athleticism with a dunk immediately after a steal in their full court press. When Lutheran West made their final push of the game, Federico knocked down a corner 3-pointer to put the game away. Expect to hear a lot about Federico this summer for Wildcat Select on the 3SSB circuit.

Federico stole the show with his performance he looked to have taken somewhat of a jump since the last time I saw him a few weeks ago. He started of with a few early buckets to get in somewhat of a groove. His long arms allow him to contest shots with ease in addition to shagging passes like a wide receiver. He has a sneaky good post game and is able to score over smaller defenders. He does a nice job finding ways to get to the charity stripe. Federico impresses with his ability to slow the game down and not get sped up when he has the ball in his hands. He shows some flashes on the defensive end but needs to be locked in on walling up when down low. His gangly limbs let him maneuver to different spots. I want to see him work on becoming quicker, getting stronger and bending with his knees not his hips. His lack of strength makes him get hung up on defenders at times. He should see more division one suitors as time progresses.

came alive in the second half with his ability to make shots on the perimeter and score around the bucket. 14 of his 17 points came in the 2nd half. He used his length on the defensive end to alter shots and has great timing using his windshield wiper blades arms. He grabbed a few rebounds and was in passing/driving lanes to gather steals. Federico also really does a good job of lulling defenders to sleep on the attack and uses his lack of quickness to his advantage. His ability to play on the block is one of his most underrated skill sets. At times it didn’t really seem like he was too confident to start the game, but once he realized that he could slow the game down, everything then started to fall into place for the sophomore he had 17 points with two three-pointers. I want to see him work on getting in the weight room and adding more muscle to his frame so he can finish and contort his body through contact and traffic. He is going to have to learn how to become an alpha dog because at most points of the game, I felt like he was the best player on the floor. He just didn’t see it in himself till the later stretches. Like how he keeps progressing over time and should start to see it click sooner rather than later.

Federico is one of the best returning players in the WPIAL for this season and one of the better sophomores in the state. I would expect him to take a major jump in the Chartiers Valley offense this season and everything should probably go through him. He was very dominant this summer during the grassroots season and was won the HGSL championship at the 15u level.

Federico is a natural swingman who flat out knows how to play. He scored the basketball effortlessly from a variety of ways. He was able to run the floor in transition and came up with scoring chances. His length was a factor on defense using his rangy arms to alter shots frequently. He was in good spots to get rebounds and can put the ball on the deck and bring it up the floor. I would like to see him wall up more around the bucket which would keep him out of foul trouble. Federico is due for a big sophomore year and should be on the radar of college programs for sure. Regional sleeper who will is on the verge of becoming a more household name.

Federico showcased another solid performance backing up what he did during the PIAA 5 state tournament against Hershey, were in some moments of the game I thought he was the best player on the floor. He shoots a clean ball from behind the arc and is ready quickly to get off his shot off the catch. He has great instincts on the glass. Federico also was able to alter shots. He needs to continue to work on getting stronger and finishing through contact. Looking forward to his development over the next several years.

Federico impressed with his 2-way versatility. He is a versatile defender who uses his length to either cover ground, alter shots or collect rebounds. He has good ball skills and contort his body to different spots. He has a good feel for the game and processes situations on the fly. He was able to score from behind the arc. Federico showed that he could score tough buckets in the flow of the game. He needs to improve on getting stronger which should occur when his body keeps developing. He did a good job crashing the glass for 2nd chance looks.
