About Kyan
Expert Analysis
Michael Herrick | Prep Hoops Scout
He stuck out at a big and strong athlete. Blomquist was physical and he did not shy away from contact. He made plays in the paint and on the perimeter. He looks like a forward but delivers passes like a skilled guard. Kyan delivered 1-handed passes off the dribble accurately. He knocked down a triple with a nice-looking shot. I liked his aggressiveness on O & D.

Kyan was dominant in the action I saw on Saturday. He used his size and strength to fight through contact down low and finish through multiple defenders at a time. Along with his strong frame, he is very athletic, often beating defenders using the dribble and even threw down a huge dunk over a defender in transition. Blomquist is very versatile on both sides of the ball, being positionless for the most part.

If Kyan gets a little bit of space to attack the basket, there’s not much opposing defenders can do. He’s that strong and that physical that just about any time he gets near the basket he’s able to bulldoze his way into deep position and elevate to finish. Even against a Sanford Sports team with a massive frontcourt, Kyan showed no fear attacking the basket resulting in a handful of tough finishes through contact to keep his team in the game. Tough as nails wing who doesn’t back down from competition.

was a major contributor in Minnesota Rush’s Day 3 win over Minnesota Chill in a battle of unbeatens. Kyan has a solid frame and showed his strength by battling down low on both sides of the ball. He came away with several contested rebounds and played fantastic interior defense. The Becker junior also has the ability to step out and knock down shots from outside or attack off the dribble. Blomquist turned in a solid weekend and did a little bit of everything in the action I was able to see.

is a six-foot-three-inch wing/forward from Becker. Another 2-sport athlete for the Rush, Blomquist runs the floor well and can finish with authority. He is strong, can defend big opponents and get baskets inside, and additionally can stretch to make 3’s.

is a six-foot-two-inch forward for the Bulldogs that really offers them some grit and grind while also the ability to rise and throwdown. The Bulldogs opened the 2nd half with SLOB play designed all for Blomquist who along with his teammates executed greatly. Blomquist cut to the rim on the right side and skied for a powerful slam. Over the course of the game Blomquist scored 13 points and he did it from outside (a couple 3’s), and inside (2 dunks).

Kyan Blomquist is a six-foot-two-inch forward from Becker that is 2nd on the team in scoring at 14 points per contest. Blomquist caught my eye this summer with his all out hustle, and nose for the basketball playing Minnesota Rush. The two-sport athlete helps Becker stretch out teams for adequate spacing with his 3-point shooting.
