Expert Analysis
Michael Herrick | Prep Hoops Scout
Diaz from Oregon High School has really developed into more than just a great shooter. His defense continues to get better on and off the ball. His shot-blocking ability was on display at Hopkins late in games. He was making the extra pass to teammates for open shots. He is a matchup problem as he is now a 6-4 guard. Koby has shown signs of scoring more at the rim when mismatches provide the opportunity. He is a great kid who responds positively to being coached.

away from the rim. The 6’4 wing/forward was dominant on the offensive glass, was sprinting the floor for transition buckets, and could attack with a straight line drive from the rim. Koby does a great job of playing off two feet and keeping his balance while being swarmed by defenders, allowing him to power up through contact. Diaz showed he has the touch to finish with either hand inside as well.

The versatility of Diaz’ game is the first thing that stands out when you watch him compete. At 6-foot-4 and with good physical strength, Diaz can play inside or outside. He has the ball skills to attack the basket from the wing, the size and length to score in the post and the accuracy to knock down three-point shots. Diaz displayed strong ball handling and a solid understanding of the game for Team 8 in its matchup with Team 11. The son of former Kimberly standout Jason Diaz,
