Expert Analysis
Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
I love the flair that Scott plays the game with as one of the flashiest passers in Ohio. The creativity he brings as a dribbler and playmaker is a joy to watch and he had an excellent start to the season for Archbishop Hoban, earning offers from multiple GMAC programs in the process. Hoban has been to the top of Division I recently and now gets their chance to make a run in Division III against teams like Lutheran West, Louisville and Bishop Hartley with guards mentioned in this article. Moral of the story, if your team has a chance to compete for a state title in Division III, you probably have some talented senior guards on your roster.

Archbishop Hoban has had a tremendous start to their season with some signature wins already. Their floor general Scott has been productive for their team, helping set the table for his teammates. One of the flashiest passers in Ohio, Scott makes as many no look passes as any point guard in Ohio. While it’s impressive the flair that Scott plays with as a passer, his passing is very effective as he’s able to hit teammates that the defense doesn’t know he’s monitoring where they are cutting off the ball. As a driver, Scott is also slippery and has nice touch on floater type shots. One of the top point guards in the Akron/Canton area, Scott separates himself with his playmaking for others.

One of the shiftier guards in northeast Ohio, Scott plays with a flair that is fun to watch. After winning a state title in 2023 and again being near the top of northeast Ohio last season, Scott will be the key piece to try and keep the Knights competitive with the best from the region.

Scott was one of the best players I saw on Saturday. He had supreme confidence in his game. He took early control of the game and did not let it go. Started the game with a pair of steals. He was getting to the basket whenever he wanted and did it with ease. He is a special slasher who uses his quick first step to get by the defender. Hey had very good body control in the air and had tremendous finishing ability with either hand. Scott also showed a good stroke as well on his jumper. This kid is a very good player.

Scott is on the move as he’s now with the defending Division I state champs of Archbishop Hoban in Akron. Scott is a dynamic guard who is one of the more gifted passers in the region. Able to break the defense down off the dribble and throw some impressive passes around his head or no look, Scott can make life easier for his teammates when the ball is in his hands. I’m excited to see Scott get the opportunity to play next to Jonas Nichols Jonas Nichols 6'3" | SG Hoban | 2024 State OH for Hoban as they’ll once again be one of the strongest teams in northeast Ohio despite losing a strong senior core. For Scott, finding a way to fit in shouldn’t be difficult, he was already making noise in June at Midwest live. At the grassroots level, his 16 U OBC group was a talented squad with multiple prospects ready to get looks by scholarship programs next spring and summer.

due to minor injuries but still had plenty of talent to shine on Sunday. Scott likely had the most assists in any one game I saw this weekend, passing the ball at an extremely high level. Scott is able to put the ball on a dime in the pick and roll, use no look passes to keep the defense guessing and find cutters to the basket. A rhythm shot-maker, Scott’s jumper looks better off one or two dribbles than the catch, as he made a handful off the bounce and a top of the key 3-pointer off the catch. Expect Scott to have a big year with the Knights as they reload for another deep playoff run.

Scott has been a steady riser this spring with OBC’s 16 U group and continued that impressive play on Sunday. One of the better pick and roll maestros in the 2025 class, Scott makes a few eye catching passes every time you watch him. A little more aggressive as a scorer this weekend, Scott wasn’t shy about shooting it from the outside or going to the floater. Expect Scott to be one of the top guards in the federal league as GlenOak should compete for a conference title in 2023-24.

Price 16 U. Scott is a pure point guard who plays with good pace and wants to get his teammates involved first. Making smart passes in the pick and roll and when he’s driving to the hoop, Scott is one of the best passers in Ohio’s 2025 class. With the ball in his hands, Scott also does a good job of keeping the defense off balance with changing speeds and using crossovers, he also made a couple scoop layups when he looked to score in the paint.
