The four star Iowa commit moves as well off a ball screen as just about any player his size I have seen at this age. Keller was facing an excellent group of Dallas Mustangs guards and he switched off screens time and time again moving laterally with arms extended and the little guards had no choice but to move the ball to the next man. Between his on ball work and then his help defense getting length and bothering just about every attack, I love the defensive potential that Keller has.
Daugherty finished the semi-final with five of seven field goal attempts and all of those finishes were right in the paint. He had one putback miss and one three point miss. Was two of four at the foul line scoring 12 points. Also grabbed nine rebounds.
Daugherty put together another strong weekend — this time in front of a multitude of college coaches — and continued to show just how valuable he can be for a program at the next level. Keller remains one of the most versatile bigger bodies in the region. He can score the ball, defend multiple positions, and rebound at a high level. Kansas City served as the latest example of the offensive upside Daugherty continues to flash, creating both interest and intrigue with the way he produced throughout the weekend. Spending the majority of his time operating on the perimeter, he consistently took defenders off the bounce and finished at the rim, whether it was with touch and finesse or by rising up and finishing with power. His shooting also continued to stand out, as he knocked down shots from deep and stretched the floor while forcing defenses to adjust to multiple matchups. While he already holds a number of Division I offers, performances like this make you wonder why there aren’t even more programs involved. If he continues trending in this direction, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Power Four programs come calling very soon.
The more Daugherty plays, the more you see a versatile and rare forward who continues to take strides each week. This spring has shown that Keller can do almost everything offensively — stretch the floor, attack off the bounce, and even control play in the open floor. With his unique inside-outside game, he’s been most effective as a screener. Whether he’s rolling to the rim or popping into space, he finds openings and finishes plays when opportunities are there. Keller’s finishing has really exploded as of late. He’s playing off two feet more consistently, finishing above the rim with power, and showing the ability to play through contact while using either hand. Defensively, his shot blocking and rim protection have also flashed throughout the spring. Daugherty should be one of the premier players for college coaches to check out this weekend in Kansas City at the RecruitLook Live Period.
Daugherty is coming off a standout year with Lee’s Summit, playing a key role for a Tiger team that finished 23–6 and captured a conference championship. He averaged just over 15 points per game to go with seven rebounds, while shooting nearly 49% from the field.
At a legitimate 6’10”, Daugherty offers a versatile, dynamic skill set that allows him to impact the game both inside and on the perimeter, making him one of the more intriguing prospects in the region. He can stretch the floor with his shooting, while also showing the ability to initiate offense from the perimeter when needed. At the same time, he consistently puts pressure on the rim as a lob threat and a strong, physical finisher through contact.
With early offers already on the table from UMKC and Drake, this summer will be a pivotal stretch in his recruitment. As he continues to draw attention, more programs are expected to get involved and join the mix.
Daugherty was at it again Tuesday night, helping the Tigers take down Blue Springs in impressive fashion. Keller finished with 20 points and six rebounds, putting together a highly efficient performance on the offensive end.
He was a force around the rim, consistently finding openings and throwing down a couple of dunks that brought energy to the floor. Even in traffic, he stayed composed, showing he can handle multiple defenders collapsing on him and still finish plays. At the same time, he stretched the defense by knocking down multiple threes off the catch, proving he’s not just a paint presence.
His combination of size and skill continues to create problems for opposing teams because you simply can’t take everything away. If you crowd him inside, he can step out. If you press up on the perimeter, he can put it on the deck or finish through contact. Defensively, his length stands out as well. It shows up on the glass and in passing lanes, where he consistently produces and impacts the game on both ends.
Daugherty’s stock continues to rise as he keeps delivering strong performances against top-level competition. Coming off a 28-point outing against Olathe North on Saturday, he has firmly established himself as a player trending in the right direction. At 6-foot-10, his combination of size and skill is becoming increasingly difficult for opponents to handle. He impacts the game on the glass, scores efficiently around the rim, and also showcases a smooth, confident perimeter shooting stroke that he can get off at any time.
With his continued growth and production, expect his recruiting stock to take off this spring and summer. If everything falls into place, Daugherty could also be a key piece in pushing Lee’s Summit toward a deep run at the state tournament.
