McNamara, a guard out of Thayer Academy in Massachusetts, is the #3 ranked combo guard and checks in at #19 overall. McNamara popped onto our radar this summer with his combination of positional size, feel for the game, and skill level. He’s a smooth scorer on the offensive end of the floor that should only continue to develop as he gets stronger. He makes good decisions with the ball in his hands, uses his length as a finisher around the rim, and is capable of making plays for himself and others in transition. Defensively, he can guard up and down a position and uses his length to make an impact on the glass. He’ll be another prospect in the Class of 2029 to watch this spring with BABC.

McNamara looks bigger and longer every time I see him, and I’m finally starting to see some improvements in his shooting form. Though the results aren’t necessarily there yet, I can see a pathway to him becoming a good marksman from deep. Besides his shooting, the 6-foot-4 wing is quite effective using his length to glide for finishes to the hoop – “smooth” is the best word to describe his takes to the rim. He also competes hard on the defensive end and can guard a variety of players as a result of his size. Once he grows to be his older brother’s height (6-foot-8), he’ll be a scholarship prospect.

McNamara, a wing out of Thayer Academy in Massachusetts, is a versatile offensive product that knows how to score the basketball in a variety of ways. At 6’4″, he has good positional size and combines that with a plus feel for the game as a creator. He can score it in isolation situations, knocks down shots in catch and shoot situations, and has the athleticism needed to finish over size around the rim. Defensively, he plays hard, knows how to play angles, and has the ability to guard up and down a position.

McNamara was pretty easily the best player on the court during the all-star game, and he was one of the youngest. At 6-foot-1 and only a rising 8th grader, he has amazing length and athleticism; his burst to the rim and smooth finishing ability makes him incredibly tough to stop when he gets going downhill. His three-point set shot is still coming along, but McNamara’s jumper in the lane looks very workable. Oh, and his brother, Michael, is 6-foot-7 in the class of 2027. Big future ahead for McNamara; way too early to say, but he has D1 potential.
