About Julius
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I leverage my impressive physical presence and high basketball IQ to dominate the paint, but I can run the floor and shoot a three to throw my defender off. I excel in positioning, using my large stature to secure boards and protect the rim with authority. Offensively, I am adept at setting effective screens, making intelligent cuts, and finishing strong with an exceptional touch.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I embody dedication and professionalism in every aspect of my game. Despite my imposing physical presence, I remain humble and coachable, always eager to learn and improve. My cool composure under pressure makes me a reliable cornerstone on the court. As a true student-athlete, I balance rigorous academic responsibilities with intense athletic commitments.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Beyond the basketball court, I have a remarkable array of achievements. I was part of the Gifted and Talented program, demonstrating my exceptional academic capabilities and intellectual curiosity. This was further evidenced by my receiving the President's Academic Award, a testament to my outstanding scholastic performance. Additionally, I have obtained my Black Belt in Taekwondo.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
My leadership on the court is evident as I consistently guide and motivate my teammates, fostering a cohesive and collaborative team environment. My ability to be a supportive and selfless teammate underscores my commitment to the group's collective success.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Growing up, I faced challenges when my parents divorced and my dad moved. I struggled with a deep sense of displacement, yearning to find a community where I, a young Black man who often felt more white, could belong. This search for acceptance has shaped who I am today. Now, I proudly call Hopkins home, a place where I’ve found the support and connection with my team.
What type of college are you looking for?
I want a college with strong programs that will challenge me intellectually. On the basketball front, I'm seeking a competitive environment where I can further develop and contribute to the team. A program that values dedication, teamwork, and mutual respect. Ultimately, I aim for a trajectory that will enable me to play past college or open the doors for other significant opportunities.

Julius had some big moments in a pair of wins for Hopkins on Sunday. His size was important in a win over CDH, as his physicality helped limit the production of one of the best frontcourts in the state. He was battling to prevent deep post position, and his strength made him difficult to move on the block. Offensively he showed comfort to knock down the open three, and was reliable with his finishing around the rim. Julius did a nice job of making quick cuts off the ball to find pockets of space to take a dump-off pass and power his way up to the rim. Had the game winning lay-up in overtime to take down CDH.
