Expert Analysis
Owen Siebring | Prep Hoops Scout
This is a kid who’s more than just a big man; he makes outstanding plays every time the ball gets near him.
During the two games I saw with Juel, he ripped a rebound away with two defenders draped all over him. And at another point in the game, he caught a pass mid-air and was able to convert it into a layup before he hit the ground. And then late in the game, he had a defender nearly tackling him, but he still was able to convert an and-1 basket. Not only does he get his team fired up, he even had observers going crazy for some of his highlights.
Juel makes his team function so well. He’s an obvious weapon in the post, both on offense and defense. But more than that, he’s a really capable ball-handler and distributor. He won’t just convert a putback shot, he’ll grab a rebound and try to find an open teammate if there’s a better option.
And on defense, his shot-blocking and physicality comes naturally. But he’s also unafraid to come outside the arc and guard the point if he needs to.
Juel is turning into a jack-of-all-trades, and will spend the next three seasons as a constant double-double threat.

Juel is a player that you’ll want to keep watching in the coming years. He attracts attention the second he steps on the court, and usually can deliver with elite play in the post.
As a 6’4″ freshman, his height is incredible, but he’s already gotten so strong as well. He imposes his will in the paint, and has tremendous body control when he’s backing down a defender.
Juel will often have a size advantage, but he’s not one to only put up shots down low. He’s willing to kick the ball to the outside, or make an extra pass to an open teammate.
And defensively, the kid is just a brick wall. He makes it nearly impossible for an opposing offense to drive to the rim, and he can just rip rebounds away from his opponents. Plus he’s not afraid to come out to the perimeter and play on-ball defense as well.
At times, Juel looks like an unstoppable force, and he’s only going to get better.

The second he steps on the court, you can tell this kid is going to be a problem for the opposition. He’s tall and has such a big body for his age that he’s an automatic rim protector, and finds a way to disrupt any play that comes toward the paint.
Juel has fantastic body control, and is well ahead of his years in terms of passing and distribution. He’s not just a big body who grabs boards and puts it back in; he’ll distribute with some slick passes to an open man on the outside-collecting a number of assists on 3-pointers in his team’s win over the Detroit Bulldogs .
And offensively he is an unstoppable force. Juel imposes his will on defenses, and at one point in the game had two defenders draped all over him-and still went up for an and-1 basket.
As a whole, his team functions so much more efficiently when he’s on the court, and he seems to be at just the start of what could be an exceptional career.
