JP, a four-star 2026 prospect that is still uncommitted, held down the paint for RWE. He has a strong 6’9” frame and was able to impact the game immensely with his size and athleticism. He was fearless contesting opposing players attacking the basket, picking up a ton of rejections. He was automatic around the basket, throwing down dunks in every game and finishing efficiently at the rim. Pihtovs holds a few mid-major offers and would be a very high level pick up.

After a slower start getting touches, Pihtovs made his presence felt when guard Cole White Cole White 6'1" | PG Archbishop Riordan | 2027 State CA-N threw a perfectly placed alley-oop over the back of a 2–3 zone for his second basket. It was a play that highlighted both his athleticism and his ability to read space.

Pihtovs does a great job working the short corner, where he’s a constant lob threat and stays active around the rim. He keeps possessions alive with his offensive rebounding and plays with good timing on second-chance opportunities. While his athleticism is obvious, what can get overlooked is his basketball IQ. Defensively, Pihtovs recognizes actions early and has a knack for blowing up plays before they fully develop. His combination of size, activity, and feel for the game makes him one of the more valuable unsigned players on the west coast.

JP Pihtovs JP Pihtovs 6'9" | PF Archbishop Riordan | 2026 State CA-N put together one of the most dominant stat lines of the event: 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 blocks, with 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks by the five-minute mark of the second quarter. Bouncy, relentless, and active on the offensive glass even while being boxed out, Pihtovs was able to get offensive rebounds, while going straight up showing his leaping ability. Pihtovs plays inside-out and has a unique ability to block shots to himself or start fast breaks.

JP Pihvovs is one of the more intriguing forwards in Northern California. At 6’9”, 220 pounds, he brings a unique combination of size, mobility, and skill to the game. What makes Pihvovs stand out is his versatility— he can impact the game in a number of ways.

Pihvovs is a strong rebounder and a reliable paint presence. He uses his size and motor to clean the glass and finish plays around the rim. During the EYBL season, he didn’t step out and showcase much perimeter shooting, but his form looks clean. That was reinforced this summer when he shot 33% from three while competing with the Latvia U18 national team.

Defensively, Pihvovs uses his length and timing to alter shots and protect the rim. He’s active around the basket and has the tools to anchor a defense.

Look for Pihvovs to start pulling in more offers and gaining national attention as Riordan makes a run at a state title.

Pihtous is our highest ranked newcomer at 7. He didn’t play in the early part of the season at Riordan. He’s made his presence known with good energy of the bench. He’s an active post defender with movement, paint presence, shot blocking abilities. He’s been holding his own against quality competition at the EYBL. His offensive tools are sharpening.
