Expert Analysis

-How do you think your team and yourself performed throughout this season?rnAs a team, I believed that we were playing pretty well before league play, given the competitive schedule we had. When league play came around however, we didn’t play defense consistently, and that’s probably one of the problems that caused us to miss the playoffs. Individually I believe I had a solid season.
-What was the biggest obstacle you and your team faced this season?rnThe biggest obstacle we faced was injuries and sickness. During league play, we had at least one player that was unable to play for each game. Our league is very small, with only five teams including us. The eight league games (we play each team twice) alone determine whether or not we go into the playoffs. Us having players in and out of the rotation really made it difficult for us to find a flow.
-What do you think you improved most on the court?rnI would say that my 3-pointer improved the most on the court. Last year I shot 22.7% from three. I worked on it in the offseason, and shot 48.3% from three this past season.
-What are you looking to improve before the next level?rnWhat I am looking to improve before the next level is footspeed, contested and off the dribble 3 point shooting, and ball handling. I also want to become bigger and stronger, and more athletic.
-Who are some teammates that you think stood out this season? Who are some teammates who could have breakout years next year in your eyes?rnSome teammates I believe stood out this season was my point guard

Pierre is a special player on the court. He can score at all 3 levels and plays defense at a high level. Josiah spent the summer with BFL but made the switch back to Kamiak before the season started and he is showing why he made the right choice! Josiah scored 40 points against North Creek, scoring over half of his teams total points.

Josiah spent part of the summer with BFL Prep but decided Kamiak was the right place for him to be playing. I think he made the right decision myself, he has dropped 30+ multiple games and is playing great defense. He scores the ball really well at all 3 levels and is guarded by the opposing teams best player nightly. Against Lake Stevens, he dropped 33 points on the night. I can say with confidence, I don’t think this will be his last 30 point game this season.

Pierre is the three-level scorer that keeps this team going. When the offense stalls, when the team needs a crucial bucket, they can turn to Pierre to get them back on track. He’s like glass of water that washes the food down your gullet, refreshing the pallet and clearing the way for more. He’s great going to the rim and uses his length to float shots above outstretched defenders or scoop layups around traffic. He can pullup from mid-range and sink jumpers or capitalize on lagging defense outside and nail the three ball. No winning team is complete without their go-to-guy and in this recipe, that guy is Pierre.

Fresh off a breakout junior year at Kamiak, the 4A Wesco 1st Team selection showed a ton of potential as a long two-way slashing wing and will instead be playing for BFL Prep this upcoming season. He seemed to fit right in alongside the other Kings’ perimeter players in the first practice and showed what he can bring to the table with his all around skillset. Josiah plays with a nice intensity on the defensive end and is great at staying vertical and altering shots when players drive at him. He has midrange and 3-point shooting ability and is a player who uses his 6’5 frame to get inside, scoring or finding open cutters. Since watching him play for the first time early last season, its evident that he’s added a bit of muscle and that should serve him well against opponents who match up with him at the next level.

No. 4 | Pierre is a long wing player who excels at scoring at the rim. He is such a good decision-maker on drives to the hoop, making controlled finishes or slick passes to open teammates when the defense slides over to pick up Pierre. His length is a factor on the boards and defensively. As he gets stronger and continues to develop that mid-range shot, Pierre will continue to emerge as a top player from the north end.
