Joshua Burish | Prep Hoops Scout
Purvis played with great energy and passion every time he stepped on the floor. You can see the leadership he brings as an upperclassman, setting the tone with both his play and unselfishness. He attacked the rim with confidence, mixing in spin moves and finger rolls to finish around defenders. Purvis also excelled at creating for others, consistently finding open shooters and making the extra pass. His balance of scoring and playmaking helped elevate both his game and his Fueled By Faith team.

First time seeing Purvis play alongside scholastic team. Watched Saturday evening game and he continued to be a scoring threat from beyond the perimeter on the catch. Tallied him for multiple 3’s within team’s offensive system. Also bought more slice and dice and slashing ability to the floor from what I had seen before. Converted on a hard baseline finish on a tough angle and ran the break in attack mode. Slammed home an exclamation dunk in transition while also coming away with a couple steals utilizing length.

Showcased versatility as a 1 or 2 man. Makes the right reads with extra passes to find teammates underneath for assists. Has scoring touch from all 3 levels. Uses length and wingspan to outreach defenders on finishes at rim. Likes to push coast to coast off of rebounds to create instant offense. Possesses solid activity defensively. Will fill a wing 2 spot at next level with a smooth feel and knack for the game.

Yorkville Christian got off to a hot start against Madison La Follette and led 43-34 at halftime before walking away with a convincing 96-80 triumph. And a big part of the strong start was the stellar play of Purvis, a lanky 6-foot-3 junior wing who shot the lights out at Madison College. Purvis finished with 16 points and made four-of-nine from three-point range with many coming in the first half when his team established control of the contest. In addition to scoring from deep, Purvis also got to the rim off of ball fakes and scored off the glass for Yorkville Christian.

A legit 2 guard for the next level. Spotted up for catch and shoot opportunities from distance. Will go into his shot off the bounce as well from 3 ball land. Has solid length and a quick release. Shot it at a solid clip today. Liked his ability to rebound and see the floor right away as well. Pitched it ahead to find guys on the break and get into primary opportunities quickly.

Offensively played against a zone tonight and lit it up from beyond the arc. Once the guards penetrated he had some well balanced spacing to create separation for a kickout and shot. Had either 4 or 5 catch and shoot 3’s from the corners with one being 3 – 4 feet beyond the line. Seemed to be a competitive player that shoots it with a good percentage. Was comfortable releasing it against zero gap pressure. Good looking form from longer range distance.
