Another Yorkville Christian product, played with a high motor and brought plenty of activity to the floor. He played with a loose, confident approach and looked like he was having fun making plays. His energy showed up in transition, where he could turn defensive plays into offense, while also consistently looking to crash the glass on both ends. Showed some versatility offensively with his ability to work out of pick-and-rolls, find kick-outs, and attack off the bounce. Touch from the midrange and the ability to make plays defensively with his activity and effort.

The 6’4” four man is a broad shouldered post that plays with a ton of physicality and toughness as an impactful rebounder.  Rebounds well on both ends of the floor, converts around the cup, and is a quality interior defender.  Played up on the 15U level in the spring and held his own.

Duain Johnson showed an overwhelming mix of 6’4” size, length, and overall athleticism. He proved to be capable of spacing the floor as a catch-and-shoot option, attacked closeouts with straight-line drives, and created for himself off the dribble with pull-ups or crafty counter maneuvers. He also stood out as a secondary playmaking situations, swinging the ball with quick decision-making, delivering sharp skip passes, or initiating offense when needed.

Duain is an imposing presence in the paint, especially at the 13u level. Already standing at 6’3, Duain combines that length with a strong frame that allows him to overpower opposing forwards in his age group. If you let him catch in deep post position, the possession was pretty much over as he could take one power dribble before going up to finish right over his man. Knows how to use his body to seal off defenders, making it easy to simply catch and finish when the ball came his way. Helped his Mac Irvin Fire team dominate the paint as they took home the 13u title.
