Banks has shown improvements in a lot of ways over the last few months, but I think this weekend was the best stretch of basketball I’ve seen him play and it all had to do with his efficiency embracing his role. As the bulk of the defense’s attention is focused on Asare, Hunter and Ragland, any production out of Banks and others can be demoralizing as the opposing team tries to establish momentum. Banks made his share of catch-and-shoot three’s and made great decisions as a passer from the top of the key, in transition or in quick read-and-react situations.

No team looked closer to midseason form this weekend than Highland, evidenced by the play of not just the Hawks’ stars but also by its role players like Banks in support. The junior swingman impressed throughout the weekend with his ability to space the floor off the catch as a wing with nice size and athleticism. He also showed capable ball skills in open space while consistently playing a smart and tough-nosed floor game on both ends. Banks’ contributions may not be the sexiest but his impact on winning is unquestionable and should put him firmly on scholarship-level radars, particularly as he adds bulk to his wiry strong frame.

Banks is a solid perimeter shot maker with good positional size on the wing. He is an above average athlete who can finish above the rim and use his physical tools effectively when attacking the basket. Banks also plays with a good feel for the game and consistently makes sound decisions within the flow of the offense.

13p 3r vs Grind Until
-Banks shot 5/6 from the floor and 2/2 from the line to aid a comeback push midway through the 2Q that flipped a narrow losing margin to a double digit lead at half. Banks used his frame well to be active on the glass, hitting two putbacks in the first half. Then he showed the ball skills in the 2Q to knock down a big 3 off the catch and snaked around a screen to drill a smooth pull-up jumper in the paint. Liked Banks’ ability to get his own offense within the flow of the game, as he made good decisions to keep the ball flowing or get right into a downhill drive to the rim or a shot.

Banks is a kid that played with a poise demeanor. Jayden ability to use the dribble and making him a true threat for offensive and defensive rebounds. He runs the floor well and finishes at the rim. He also can cover multiple positions. He is a great kid who will do anything that is asked of him and will do it to the best of his ability. Bright future!
