Expert Analysis

Morris finished third in scoring at the state tournament in 4A with 43 total points. Jamel is an explosive athlete that has a quick first step that allows him to get to the rim in a hurry. The senior played through contact and was able to finish well inside throughout the season. His body control was on full display against Cascia Hall at state and while they may have finished runner up, his Douglass team proved that they were worthy of the title game appearance.

The best aspect of Morris’ game is something that can’t be measured by stats. It’s by watching the heart he plays with. A great example of a senior who left it on the court. Always played with fantastic energy on both ends. and he’s pure grit and toughness as a finished at the bucket. Plays much bigger then his skinny 6 foot 4 frame. Knows angles, footwork and pumpfakes to find openings around the rim. Even after he checked out of the game, he showed maturity by cheering on the reserves who closed out the game. Type of prospect who grinds his way to a long and successful college career.

Morris is one of the hardest playing players in the state, and his motor ran hot throughout. Fearless finisher around the rim, took a beating on drives and kept going on his way up to 17 points. Douglass struggled in the halfcourt, it was Morris’ ability to force turnovers and speed up the tempo that kickstarted Douglass’ offense in the second half. It’s a great example of the spark and energy Morris has, which is a rare trait nowadays. And should make a priority for regional college coaches who value toughness.

One of the toughest players in the state. Simply relentless as a driver and offensive rebounder. A good second jump and long arms allow him to really excel on the glass. A collision in the second quarter briefly sidelined him due to bleeding. But he played the second half with possibly even more intensity, finishing with 18 points and 11 wins. Morris is a great bet for regional JuCo programs due to his combination of production and intensity on the court.

A battling bigger guard/wing. Had a stretch in the third quarter where he took over the game. Great finishing around the rim, using pumpfakes and understanding how to adjust to finish against bigger foes. Brought the same mentality on the defensive end, with one block leading to instant offense. Then other moments of verticality to help protect the rim. His second half performance was cut short, when he got caught up in the physical nature of the game and was called for what looked to be a double tech. Leading to his fourth foul and spending a large portion of the fourth on the bench.
The fiery nature Morris plays with is what helps him standout, but Thursday brought a learning experience to better walk the line without crossing it. As Douglass will need him on the court and at his best to challenge for another State Title.

A hard nose slashing guard, Morris has outstanding body control and is surprisingly strong for his thinner frame. Is seemingly never off balance, which allows him to hit very tough shots in traffic. Good patience on his moves too, plays under control while maintaining an impressive determined mindset. Impressed with some of his quick reading of the floor on the feeds he made to teammates, making him a true combo guard now.

One of the most tenacious drivers in Oklahoma, Morris quick and fearless when getting to the rim. He’s quite twitchy for his size, while also still playing under control. Tends to glide around the court. At the rim, he’s explosive with powerful dunk and flashy, body control finishes. Continuing to improve his jumper is the next step for collegiate success. After his breakout junior season, he’s set up for a sensational senior campaign.

Following an explosive 3A State Tournament run for Crooked Oak, Morris is staying on the rim and applying pressure. Had one of the dunks of the event in a Saturday night win. Along with his plus athleticism, he’s a relentless attacker off the bounce. Including crashing the glass as an offensive rebounder. High motor and athleticism, with the room to continue to grow into a complete scorer, what’s not to like? A recent Redlands offer should be the first of many for the 405 standout.

Morris’ breakout junior campaign ended with an impressive 31 points in a hard fought semifinal loss. After Crooked Oak’s slow start, it was steady scoring from Morris that first righted the ship. Then helped them chip away at the lead, and making it a close contest down the stretch. He’s a slashing wing, who’s also gritty and tough around the rim. Strong and quick off the floor, he’s active for putbacks. Productive player with room to grow, the future remains bright for Morris.

Another member of Trae Young Gold with untapped potential. Morris nearly shut down the gym with an dunk attempt on Sunday afternoon. He came close to clearing a defender who tried to slide over and take a charge. It was a great example of the upside the springy and skinny 405 wing possess. Junior year is often a pivotal year for prospects to take a leap, and like the other 2026s on this list tracking his development will be a fun storyline this winter.
