Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Swanson showed signs of being a big-time scorer in his junior year and doubled down on that in his Senior season that had them as one of the favorites throughout the year. He was one of the best players in the Jeffco league and showed he could consistently scored when the ball found him. He averaged 11.1 points and 4.7 rebounds a game and showed he could mix it up and be a ball handler who you could build around as the facilitator as well, with 2.3 assists a game despite being a 6’4 wing. Swanson uses his size, and he’s versatile, and that is what separates him. Solid career for a player who I feel could play at the next level.

Swanson made a subtle climb in the rankings and continues to trend upward. At 6’4, he’s a smooth-scoring wing who plays with confidence and versatility. He averaged 10.5 points and 5.4 boards, using his size to shoot over defenders and his footwork to create separation. Although his game was mainly at the rim, he hit midrange pull-ups as well, which kept the defense honest. When he gets the ball, he puts it on the floor and explodes to the rim, and his fearless rebounding helped Green Mountain reach the state. His game translates, and we’re expecting an even better senior season.

Swanson’s game has definitely stepped up since the high school playoffs. The guy plays with so much energy that it’s tough to keep up with him for an entire game. Offensively he really thrives in that mid-range to basket area. His step back jumper is a thing of beauty and nearly impossible to guard, and when he’s around the rim, he’s got this sneaky layup game that catches defenders off guard. What really stands out is how well he runs the floor in transition. He’s always moving and looking for the next play. Swanson can spot up behind the arc and hit a three when open, but if you close out on him too hard, he’s got the quickness to blow right past you and finish at the rim. He’s got a great balance of shooting and driving, making him a real headache for defenders

Swanson has great size and footwork for a shooting guard. He plays the position just like you’d expect, with awesome vision when it comes to choosing between taking the shot or driving the lane for a bucket. His biggest strength on offense is his ability to rise up over defenders to get his shot off. He’s got great range from 3, and when he’s driving to the hoop, his long arms make for some smooth, acrobatic layups and easy finishes at the rim. On defense – those same long arms make him a nightmare. Opposing players struggle to get around him and have a hard time getting a clean shot off when he’s all over them in coverage

Swanson will be an intriguing wing prospect to follow over the coming seasons, given his lanky frame paired with the solid base of perimeter skills. Capable of knocking down the open jumper off the catch, the 6’4 forward draws in plenty of gravity on closeouts. As well a dependable driver pst a rotating defender, Swanson’s possibility to add strength and maintain knockdown shooting allows him to be malleable option within Green Mountain’s offense.

He has a tight handle and was able to create off of the dribble, getting inside and scoring at the rim. He was active on the boards and was able to get some easy second chance points because of it.
