A player who I got to see for the first time at Team USA minicamp, Nwabuoku stood out with his physicality, rim protection, ability to run the floor and offensive flashes. Drawing rave reviews from Team USA minicamp, I’ll be excited to see what he’s able to do for JL3 this season, he already drew praise from 247 sports from his play at the GASO Spring Championships last weekend. Holding two offers from Ivy league programs this early in the recruiting cycle also speaks to the academic student Nwabuoku is and his maturity. Expect programs from bigger name leagues to come calling soon but Ivy league schools have been able to secure commitments from a few high school prospects with bigger name school offers.

It was nice to see some of the younger bigs going only against players their age as some of the 2027 bigs had their way with the younger group. This allowed a guy like Nwabuoku to physically impose his will on Sunday and play with physicality in the paint. Blocking shots, rebounding on both ends and showing some scoring flashes made him an easy choice for a standout performer. Nwabuoku had a five-point solo run where he knocked down a pick and pop 3-pointer and then ran the floor for a dunk. Seems like Texas has a lot of talented forwards coming through the pipeline and Nwabuoku is another name to add to that list.

Nwabuoku was a dominant rebounding presence with an overwhelming combination of explosiveness, length, and anticipation. He was quick off the floor, often out-jumping and out-timing his opponents to secure boards at their apex. His motor allowed him to crash with intensity, and he routinely came down with contested rebounds in traffic. With elite second and third jump quickness, he lived on the glass and thrived in physical battles down low, often snatching the ball out of mid-air with sheer force.
