With Shabazz enduring a historic, culture changing season that saw them capture both NJSIAA Group 1, Section 2 and the overall Group 1 championship, Elijah Colon Elijah Colon 6'1" | CG Shabazz | 2027 State NJ emerged as part of a potent crop of guards that provided a legitimate scoring punch. In his first season since transferring to Shabazz and known for his confident scoring ability, Colon quickly made his presence felt, ultimately thriving as a consistent and steady scoring threat all season long— picking his spots well within the flow of the offense displaying his ability to attack the basket when open driving angles appeared, using craft and pace in PnR situations to create while also showcasing his effectiveness off the ball by consistently getting into position and knocking down shots with smooth and also demonstrating strong balance and footwork on movement threes.

Having thrived as a consistent contributor in Shabazz’s backcourt throughout the course of his entire junior season,  Elijah Colon Elijah Colon 6'1" | CG Shabazz | 2027 State NJ once again put together a performance that happened to display multiple strong moments of his ability to attack driving angles and finish strong around the basket. Colon did an impressive job of doing so particularly in the flow of Shabazz’s offense whenever the offense called for it, providing steady and timely scoring on the ball.

A steady producer in Shabazz’s backcourt thus far this season, Elijah Colon Elijah Colon 6'1" | CG Shabazz | 2027 State NJ showed flashes of the different ways he can put the ball in the basket despite a rough start offensively. Beyond his typical outside shooting touch, Colon converted on a handful of looks as the game went on, demonstrating an ability to attack driving lanes when opportunities arose— using craft and pace in PnR actions to get in the paint while also attacking additional driving angles off ball reversals and taking advantage of Seton Hall’s defensive rotations.

Colon delivered an impressive performance that highlighted his ability thrive off the ball and be a dynamic and versatile outside shot maker— stepping into open shots with fluid mechanics as a spot up shooter off the catch while also showing smooth footwork and good balance on movement threes, capitalizing off late contests and lazy closeouts. Colon also flashed his ability to attack certain driving angles when they opened up off the bounce and finish in the lane with a little bit of craftiness, keeping the defense honest and countering his dangerous outside shooting touch.

With Shabazz playing with an extreme level of defensive pressure and intensity, Elijah Colon Elijah Colon 6'1" | CG Shabazz | 2027 State NJ thrived in transition as a result of Shabazz’s ability to consistently turn defense into offense Saturday afternoon. Colon thrived as a finisher in transition, sprinting the floor well when Shabazz forced turnovers and almost always getting ahead of the defense.
