has continued to show tangible signs of growth and in this one his perimeter shot making highlighted a lot of that promise. More confident the more he sees the basketball go in the basket, Brunson flashed his ability to space the floor as a legitimate catch and shoot threat, with deep range accuracy too, as he converted on multiple looks with efficiency from beyond the arc on the wing and shot it with a noticeable level of conviction.

Brunson has the ability to break out this season with his ability to score inside and out. The 6’3 guard has a good release on his jumper and makes opponents pay for giving him space behind the arc. Brunson is more than just a shooter as he can also get to the rim off the bounce and finishes well around the rim. He rarely forces shots in the half court and slides his feet on the defensive end. Brunson has the ability to put up points in bunches, which he should put on display this season.

were glaringly evident across both contests early Saturday, putting together moments of the type of assertiveness that could translate to a larger role. Taking full advantage of the minutes he was given, Brunson consistently found ways to keep himself on the floor— demonstrating crucial ball security and a tighter handler with poise when operating against opposing ball pressure coupled with encouraging versatility as a perimeter shot maker, as he showed the ability to generate efficient offense across multiple outside shot profiles while shooting with confidence.

Brunson is starting to stretch out physically, which makes the fact that his perimeter skill set has remained intact particularly intriguing. He’s comfortable handling the ball and has become a confident shooter off the dribble, while also knocking down movement threes and deeper catch-and-shoot attempts. He’s still thin and doesn’t look close to being physically finished, giving him a potentially intriguing combination of size, shooting and guard skills as he continues to develop.

has shown some encouraging moments of what his impact could look like, dating back to the start of his freshman season a year ago. Brunson’s skillset as a complimentary guard in the backcourt is intriguing— particularly with his ability to knock down outside shots as a spot up shooter, understanding driving angles and attacking closeouts to finish at the rim, and being an instinctive decision maker in the open floor. Transferring to Roselle Catholic under newly appointed head coach and Roselle Catholic alum CJ Wilcher should present Brunson with an opportunity to emerge as a legitimate contributor in Roselle Catholic’s rotation, especially in the backcourt, heading into his sophomore year, particularly with his ability to provide seamless offensive production.
