It was very impressive that Evans was one of the best players in Dayton despite not shooting the ball as well as he usually does from 3-point range. The strides Evans had made as a defender, cutter and finisher at the rim are major reasons why he was able to find so much success this weekend without going bananas from 3-point range like everybody knows he is capable of. My favorite Evans play on Friday was a power and-1 finish off a cut to the rim. Impressive to see Evans continue to expand his game and be much more than just a perimeter shooter to help his team lift the state title trophy.

Known as the elite shooter of the Wyoming core four seniors, I was incredibly impressed with Evans decision making and passing on Saturday. Making smart decisions attacking closeouts and in transition, Evans helped swing the ball and get the Northridge defense moving. It also wouldn’t be an Evans performance without him hitting a few shots and he knocked down a pair of triples from the corner. Impressive showing by a Wyoming team that has been rolling through the southwest region.

Evans and Wiley tied for a team lead with 23 points and Evans knocked down a handful of 3-pointers in the win. I thought Wyoming did an excellent job moving the basketball and not turning the ball over. Evans also had a couple strong finishes in the paint, going through rim protectors. Wyoming has been so consistent this season as their core four seniors step up almost every night.

Wyoming stays on a tear as Evans continued his impressive season with 15 points in the win. Knocking down two corner 3-pointers, Evans is a shooter you can’t lose track of in the half-court. Also showing his ability to attack closeouts with a runner off the glass and an and-1 finish, Evans being able to score when he’s run off the line will be crucial at the college level. Expect to hear a lot more about Wyoming heading into the playoff push.

The MVP of the event in the 11th and 12th grade Division, Evans had a big game in the all star championship to help his team win the title. Winners impact winning no matter the situation and Evans won a regional title with Wyoming and made the UA Rise 17 U championship in the past 4 months, no surprise his winning habits translated to a showcase event.

One of the top shooters all weekend, Evans shot 67% on 27 3-point tries this weekend. Credit to his Wyoming teammates for finding him when he was open as Evans caught and shot the ball quickly and with confidence in the game I saw and based on the numbers he did that all weekend. With a core four of starters who have grown up together, Wyoming played their best basketball of the entire month of June up in Sandusky and appear ready to contend as one of the top teams in the greater Cincinnati area regardless of Division.

When Kettering Alter took their last lead of the game in the fourth quarter, that was Evans time to take over the game and make timely shots to help the Cowboys get revenge after last season’s blowout loss to Alter in this same round of the playoffs. When you can space the floor and confidently knock down shots it changes how the defense can guard you and Evans hit two of Wyoming’s three 3-pointers in the contest. I was also impressed with a couple touch shots he made in the mid-range and floater area while also taking care of the basketball and making the smart play. True team effort from Wyoming as their four Junior starters will be back next season but they have their sights set on a state title this year.

Shooting is a skill that is prioritized in today’s era of basketball and few wing guards in the 2026 class have a more pure stroke than Evans. Finishing fourth in the Cincinnati Hills League in scoring, Evans knocked down 70 3-pointers as a Sophomore. With good size and a quick release off the ball, Evans is a weapon to run off screens, space the floor and bust zones open. Wyoming has an incredibly talented 2026 class, their top four scorers from last season are all in that class. You’ll be hearing a lot about this team over the next two seasons in SW Ohio.

A steady contributor, Evans has scored in double figures in every game in 2024. I love his basketball IQ for a player so young, not afraid of the big moment and taking efficient shots to help his team win. Evans is an example of a kid who just knows how to play and takes what his teammates offer him when he makes himself available. Making shots from the outside, taking open looks and taking care of the basketball is a good recipe to being a winning high school player and Evans checks all those boxes.
