An efficient game for Gray, making six of nine field goal attempts, including a coast-to-coast floater at the first quarter buzzer to extend Wyoming’s lead to double-digits after the first eight minutes. Gray wants to get downhill and if you don’t stop his dribble penetration, he will find a lot of success in the paint. Dominant team effort by the Cowboys in a blowout state title win.

A dominant performance by the Cowboys who ran a good Urbana team out the gym. Gray led the way with 17 points as he was efficient as a slasher playing off two feet and staying on balance on drives. A quick guard who wants to get downhill, Gray provides a lot of rim pressure for a player his size. Gray also had a steal using his quick hands that led to a breakaway layup for one of his teammates. The Cowboys are state title good but each game will get tougher than the last in this run.

I caught a couple Wyoming games where Gray was missing and you could really see just how valuable he is to their group as his burst of energy as a slasher and on-ball defender is something they can’t replicate without him on the court. Gray also had a solid spring for midwest Cincy MHC as well, impacting the game thanks to the skills previously mentioned. After Cincinnati Wyoming won their first ever regional title last season, it’s now time for their 2026 core to try and win the whole thing this March.

Gray was gone when I saw Wyoming at Ohio Dominican’s Team Camp and his presence was felt early as his relentless slashing ability was on full display. Gray goes hard to the basket off the dribble and has a wider frame that allows him to take contact and finish when he plays off two feet. I also like how Gray wants to push the tempo and get easy buckets when they are available, either as a dribble driver or an outlet passer. With his production, ball handling ability and consistent rim pressure, Gray is one of the better guards in the Cincinnati area and should be a top target for small college programs.

When Gray was on the court he made Midwest a different team. He has control and command of the floor when he is out there. He is a natural leader and organizes his team well when it is needed. He makes the right decision with the ball. He does a great job of setting his teammates in the right area of the floor. He knows how to get inside the defense and either score or kick it to teammates. I thought a big reason Midwest lost the game I watched was because Gray was not on the floor. His absence was felt, this just shows his impact.

Cincinnati Wyoming went unbeaten in conference play and are one of the favorites in Division IV to win the state title after falling in the regional finals last season. Gray has taken a leap in multiple areas from Sophomore to Junior season with a 7% increase in 3-point % and has jumped from 4 to 5 assists per game. As a ball handler, Gray provides a bunch of rim pressure with his ability to beat his primary defender off the bounce. Defensively, Gray has continued to provide excellent pressure with just a hair under two steals a game. Cincinnati Wyoming’s 2026 class has been one we’ve been following closely and we’ll see if they are ready to lift up a state championship with a Junior led core.

Wyoming struggled to get much going offensively all night long but Gray’s relentless slashing ability drew a ton of fouls by Saint Xavier. This pressure at the rim off the dribble led Gray to shoot a game-high 10 free throws. It was tough for Saint Xavier to stay in front of him on the perimeter and he scored a few times at the rim when the Bombers couldn’t send him to the foul line. We’ll see how Wyoming responds after this tough first loss of the season, they are a state title threat in Division IV.

Not to be forgotten about in Wyoming’s deep 2026 core, Gray has shown me some noticeable improvements this summer. I’ve been really impressed with his on ball defense this summer, making an impact guarding opposing ball handlers and making their lives difficult. As a secondary creator, Gray also had some nice moments getting downhill off the dribble and finishing in the lane. Gray has a strong build for his size and could continue to impact the game by doing the dirty work for Wyoming.
