Deuce battled with some injuries during his sophomore season at MAS, but looks to be back into a rhythm with Team Herro . Last night against Indiana Game he was on fire from the very start, draining three after three to help his team build up a strong lead in the first half. Deuce is one of those players who can change a game in a hurry with his shooting, and that’s what he did against Indiana Game. After his team fell behind early in the game, Deuce knocked down 3 or 4 threes in a row to push his team in front, and from there they only extended that lead the rest of the game. His quick release and range well beyond the arc make him a constant threat to catch and shoot.

This was the first time I watched Burks and I was quite impressed right from the opening tip. Opened the game with an alley-oop feed and followed it up with four three-pointers. Three of them hit consecutively. Continued to flash brilliance as a playmaker. Picked up a loose ball and made a no-look feed to Gray shortly after. He ended the opening half with an and-one 3-pointer. Eventually finished with 24 points and six threes.

Deuce impressed early in his high school career with his deep shooting range and ability to immediately score at the varsity level. This past weekend though he looks to have developed into more of a true floor general. He was facilitating at a high level, and making a variety of passes to set his teammates up to score. Deuce did a great job of picking his head up after rebounds or steals, and tossing the ball ahead for some open dunks to his forwards running the floor. Also made the simple passes on the perimeter, and showed his playmaking ability by beating his man off the dribble and hitting the open man as the help defender slid in. Still managed to showcase his signature shooting ability with a handful of threes in the win over Martin Luther.
