Taylor will run the show as the PG and he will look good doing it. Demitrius is a super-fast player and a ball hawk. He has blazing speed, finishes well in traffic, is a playmaking passer, and Taylor can drill the three-point shot.
Size, length and athleticism are always desirable traits in a basketball player. Taylor might not have the first two on that list in great abundance, but he definitely checks the box in the third category. Even at 5-foot-9, Taylor is an extremely effective basketball player as he uses his nearly unmatched quickness and his impressive athleticism to create separation from defenders. He can pop in a triple if defenders sag off of him, and he’s deadly off the bounce, particularly in transition. Taylor can cover the length of the court with the ball in his hands about as quickly as any other player in the state. A good passer and stellar ball handler, Taylor has had a strong spring showing for the Milwaukee Young Bucks

Gold. Taylor was able to get deflections and steals that he quickly transitioned to layups as his club rallied for the triumph. Taylor, a starter at point guard for Dominican as a junior, also made some three-point shots and get to the basket and finished as he helped his squad to a 4-0 record at Prep Hoops Madness in the Midwest in Appleton.

, a lot of Dominican’s offense on Tuesday night was being generated by Demitrius Taylor. The 5’9 guard is so quick with the ball in his hands, and was able to get into dangerous areas off the dribble to create for himself or his teammates. Has the vision to locate the open man with a kickout pass, or dump off pass around the basket. Showed good touch to finish over size with a floater, but was also fearless going right into defenders at the rim. Finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in the loss.
Demetrius was the smallest player on the floor in the game I watched, but was perhaps the toughest competitor. Defensively he gets after it, sitting deep in a stance to pressure the ball. I liked his fight to get over screens by sticking tight to his man. On the offensive end he looks the part of an improved shooter, and is looking more and more confident in that outside shot. Still has the fearlessness to get into the paint and either finish against size or locate open shooters with a kickout pass. Really good creator out of the point guard spot.
At 5’8 Demitrius was able to carve out a role for himself on a talented Dominican team last winter as a freshman. When watching him it’s easy to see why. He has elite lateral quickness and a motor that never stops on both ends of the floor. Taylor is constantly pressuring the ball on defense and looking to force mistakes from opposing ball handlers by speeding them up. On the offense he’s always in attack mode, and is fearless attacking the basket an looking to finish at the rim against bigger players. Also had some nice drive-and-kick passes to set his shooters up with open looks.
