Suiting up for both HC Elite 17U and Oregon Prospects 17U on Sunday was Olvera, who continued to impress us in every game we’ve seen of his this spring. The Tualatin junior forward did it again first posting an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double with HC Elite 17U, finishing tough buckets at the rim while also showing good range on his J. He’s proven himself as a tough defensive assignment as he’s been able to score effectively down low while also showing the ability to face the hoop, knock down perimeter jumpers, and attack off the bounce.

Arguably the top performer we saw in the game was Olvera, who flashed outright dominance at times. He played both with his back to the basket and facing it, with equal success when it came to scoring the basketball. Defenders had a hard time matching up with his physicality whether it was down in the post or off the drive, and his mid-range jumper was sharp. While the result was not a victory, the Tualatin junior posted a rock-solid double-double.

Olvera made a major impact beyond the box score, anchoring his team with his toughness and presence inside. He averaged 9.0 rebounds per game, which led the entire tournament. A solid post presence, Olvera helped Tualatin compete with taller, more physical teams, using his strength and positioning to control the glass. Offensively, even without a high scoring output, he contributed in key ways—playing well off screens, finishing through contact, and showing the ability to convert at the free-throw line. He also brings versatility with a reliable mid-range game and the ability to step out and hit from outside when needed. His activity and effort were once highlighted by a strong dunk in the frontcourt, showcasing his physicality. Olvera’s rebounding, toughness, and willingness to do the dirty work made him an essential piece for his team throughout the tournament.

It’s easy for a big man to get lost in the shuffle with all of the tremendous guard play ath Tualatin possesses. Olvera’s play protecting the paint & controlling the glass will be crucial if the Timberwolves are to get past a young & scrappy Benson squad.
