He is hungry prospect who plays to win every time he steps on the court. He has confidence that not all underclassmen have, and he wants the ball when he has a good matchup. Or feels there a quality opportunity just around the corner. Sawall fills it up at the free throw lines as well, where he capitlized often thanks to his deceptive pace and ball handling. Shooting 73% (57-78). As a defender he racked up 24 steals by staying active and using in instincts.

On offense, he was scoring from just about everywhere and had some really great takes to the rack in the second half. Which helped put the game out of reach. On defense, he utilized his instincts and timing to swat 3 shots. And he also collected at least one steal. Overall, his efforts paid dividends and the freshman guard will now be put to test against Durango.

Those numbers reflect his strong feel for the game and advanced court vision. Beyond his ability to facilitate the offense, Sawall consistently tracks down rebounds and typically comes away with at least one steal per contest. Making him a very solid all around player who continues to improve.

He was fairly efficient from the field, shooting 4 of 7. And I was also a fan of how he was looking for his teammates when the defense collapsed in on him.

He’s currently averaging 12.3 PPG and 7.3 APG, using his court vision and instincts to operate with an advanced feel for the game. Sawall does a nice job using his deceptive handles to slip past defenders and finish around the rim. Beyond his offensive production, he’s contributing on the glass at around 7.3 RPG while adding roughly two steals per game. Overall, he’s consistently filling up the stat sheet. And his all-around impact should continue as the Knights head into the Tark Classic and conference play.

He has tight handles and can make deceptive moves to get his defender to overplay him. Once he has a step on his man, he can take it all the way to the rack. Or he can dump it off to a guy on the block for an assist.

Where he will join forces with Ben Brown. He will be another huge asset to their offense, since he has a knack for getting to his spots and to cup.

Damari Sawall Damari Sawall 6'2" | PG/CG Mater Academy East | 2029 State NV put his skills and IQ on display throughout The Hoop Gods All-American Camp. He makes clever maneuvers with the rock regularly and defenders have a tough time anticipating his next move. His change of direction skills can throw opponents off balance, which can lead to him gaining the separation he needs to get his shot off.

His handles are solid and he changes direction in a split second. He also has good touch around the rim and he gets to the free throw line. As a defender, Sawall is a pest and uses his speed and active hands to cause turnovers. All in all, he’s a consistent playmaker and he’ll get a chance to make an impact right away over at Sierra Vista.
