Mountain View has ridden Tonniges all season, and for good reason. Averaging 20.1 points and 8.1 rebounds, he’s the engine behind their success. A true three level scorer, he can hurt you from deep, in the mid range, or attacking the rim, forcing defenders to pick their poison. His ability to create his own shot and stretch the floor opens everything up for his teammates. If he finds an early rhythm, Mountain View becomes incredibly tough to contain
Tonniges makes a big rankings leap with his play to start the season. With so many eyes and attention on him, he’s still able to put up some big scoring games. He takes advantage of mismatches, is confident with the ball in his hands, and lets it fly. There are not many shots that he turns down, and he’s put up some big scoring games this season. He’s averaging 20.6 points on the season and has 8.3 rebounds to go along with it, and not many players are putting up that kind of production. He’s a 6’3 wing that has answered the call and has earned his spot in the rankings.
Tonniges will be a force for Mountain View with his size, skill and athleticism in a way that makes him tough to stop. His length gives him an advantage inside and out, whether it’s finishing around the rim, hitting mid range shots or stretching the floor. In transition he’s a nightmare consistently running the floor with speed and awareness that keeps defenses scrambling. He uses his length to contest shots, grab boards and disrupt passing lanes, making him a two way impact player. Expect to see him dominate in transition, create mismatches with his inside out game, and make life difficult for opponents at both ends. His combination of size, skill and versatility makes him a standout and player to watch rise in the rankings
At 6’5″, Tonnieges has great size, touch, and floor spacing ability. He averaged 10.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, two assists, and 1.6 steals while showing he could score inside and out. He thrives in transition, makes smart decisions in the halfcourt, and doesn’t force the issue. His game fits in any system as we saw him stand out this grassroots season, and his IQ pops off the tape. If the shot stays consistent, he’ll be a matchup problem all season long and help Mountain View make some noise. Cole makes a big jump after a big year.
Tonniges brings a serviceable complementary offensive skillset, comfortable spacing the floor or attacking the rim past contests. At roughly 6’2, he has the physical tools to hold his own on the defensive end, comfortable swatting away shots against guards threatening the basket.
Tonniges was able to get some blocks and was aggressive on the defensive end. He played the passing lanes well getting his hands on passes. He was able to knockdown shots from the midrange consistently and hit some 3s as well.
