Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the league’s most productive freshman a year ago, Stevens has carried impact right over to his sophomore year while helping the Crusaders to their first PCL victories in over five years. Stevens thrives on the strength of his IQ and versatility, with a cerebral approach and the skillset to punish a wide variety of matchups from various spots on the floor. He shows advanced ball skills for his size with natural passing ability that shines through consistently. His body looks to be leaner than this time last year and he may have even tacked on an added inch or two. While his game doesn’t always lend to highlights, the 15-year-old’s versatile production at his age bodes well for his long-term translation at the D1 level.

Stevens struggled through a quiet first half with foul trouble while LC clung to a narrow lead, but the sophomore mismatch forward controlled the game in the second half as the Crusaders established nearly a 20-point lead. He scored a workmanlike 10 points, cerebrally attacking from all over the floor while finding particular success in the midpost. His body looks the best it ever has, allowing him to punish smaller matchups while still using his size and strength against guards. If he can continue to refine his jumper from the perimeter, Stevens should have significant upside left to tap into as he learns to consistently deploy his entire skillset in an efficient manner.

LC’s leading scorer on the year as a 14-year-old, Stevens was a bit quiet in the scoring department but showed an IQ and a balanced skillset that should make for a really interesting prospect before all’s said and done. A bigger-bodied wing forward still very early in his physical maturation, he spent a lot of time initiating offense from the point, showing impressive skill to his handle with advanced feel and court vision. He was able to use his size, skill, and footwork to meander to the rim and finish through contact, while also being a threat to knock down shots off the catch. Stevens stood out especially for his maturely vocal and unselfish approach at his age. We’re excited to see how things shake out for Stevens as he develops.

One of only two freshmen to average double figures in PCL play, Stevens offers an appealing blend of current production and long-term potential. A skilled scorer from both inside and out, he uses his size and touch to be effective from a variety of spots on the floor. His season was highlighted by a game-winner at the buzzer from near halfcourt knock off Simon Gratz. Still just 14 years old with a body that’s very much still developing, there’s a lot to like about Stevens’ upside moving forward for first-year LC coach Torre Harrison.

Lansdale has a blossoming star on its hands in this three-level scoring machine. Stevens is averaging 14 points and 6 rebounds per game this season. He dropped as season high 27 points (5 threes) in win over Simon Gratz. Stevens can operate off the ball where he will splash triples from all around the arc and slash to the cup for a bucket. Or he can serve as a secondary ball handler. There his athleticism, solid frame and crafty handles can get him into the paint for floaters or all the to the rim. His ability to absorb contact on his dribble drives and still convert is impressive. Stevens also possesses solid court vision and a high IQ. Those assets enable him to deliver well timed dimes to teammates.
