How do you think your AAU & HS summer league went? What is your outlook on your upcoming season?
-My AAU and Summer league season went well. I feel like I have become a better overall player and a much better leader. This upcoming season I’m going to do whatever it takes to win. I want to win the league title and I want to get Mount Tahoma back to the T-Dome which hasn’t happened in a long time.
What are some things that stand out about your game? Things that coaches can see and know you excel at
-I feel like my intensity stands out about my game. I show up and compete for all 4 quarters. I can lock down the other teams best player, I can facilitate and get everyone involved or I can go get 20-25. Whatever coach needs me to do to win, I’m going to do it.
What are you looking for in a school beyond HS?
-I’m looking for a school that believes in me. A school that cares for me beyond just what I can provide for their basketball team. I want to go to a program that will help me develop as a person and as a player.
Have you been in contact with any coaches/schools? If so, what schools?
-I have been in contact with a few schools, Tacoma Community College offered me and I have been talking to University Of Puget Sound, Green River College, Northwest University and a couple other naia/d3/d2 schools.
What do you want to improve on most in your game before playing at the next level?
–Like I said I want to improve on being a better leader and become better defensively because I know at the next level they aren’t going to need 20 ppg scorers. So I just want to bring great energy and leadership to whatever school I choose.

Carter is a player who plays with a lot of passion. He is a competitor as well as a talented scoring guard. He’s is a crafty and smooth lefty who can get you with a fake and hard drive to the rim, or pull it from three. He is a tough finishing guard in the paint and great in the open floor. He plays at his own speed and is great at changing it. The toughness carries over to the defensive end as well as on the glass. I wouldn’t have a problem saying that he will get 20 a game next season for Mount Tahoma and he gets it in variety.

I love watching Carter on the court. He took on a bigger role this season for Mt Tahoma and did very well filling in the gaps for the previous senior class that left. He is quick with the ball in his hands, attacking the bucket strong every time. He distributes the ball very efficiently as the teams primary ball handler. He will showcase his deep shot more this summer, which might lead to him rising after the summer.

I only caught a few minutes of one of his games. I saw him play earlier last summer and wrote about his competitive nature. It turns out that I was paying attention because he was at it again. Taking it to the rack with a purpose. Playing hard and showing some leadership talking to teammates. Directing traffic. He has a solid skill set and can score from inside and out. I’m more impressed with his desire to compete. You can’t teach that.

Mt. Tahoma finished first in the PCL last season, going a perfect 12-0. They graduated a handful of key players from that team and now Williford returns for his Junior season as one of the more experienced players on the Thunderbirds. He’s a super quick and crafty lefty that thrives on getting to the hole. Williford is also a reliable playmaker that should be handling the ball a ton for Mt. Tahoma this season. It would be unfair to expect a repeat of last season but don’t expect the Thunderbirds to sink too far with Williford at the helm.

He’s an up and coming talent at Mount Tahoma, and a crafty guard who has a unique skill set. As a guard he excels in the open floor with his wide open style of play. He’s not afraid to mix it up down low and will get his team extra possessions. He might be undersized at times when battling in the paint but makes up for it with heart. When I watched him this off-season he was all over the place. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and a confidence that stands out. Whether he’s spinning in the lane or knocking down threes, he is not only a threat to score but also the first to the floor. His competitive nature will only help him in the future. He will show up all over the box score, and it’s his hustle that gets him there. Tough player who won’t back down.
