This article will be about the 3A Pierce County Conference MVP and first team selections.
MVP: Carter Williford Carter Williford 6'3" | CG Mt Tahoma | 2024 State WA (2024) – Mount Tahoma HS
Carter was named to the first team all league last year after a very solid junior season. He is a combo guard who has the abilities to play on or off the ball. He brings a ton of energy to the court, providing a spark for his team. He is a fantastic leader and is very unselfish on the court. He has an excellent deep shot and I believe can defend at a high level. He’s my pick for MVP of this conference.
Other MVP Candidates: Layne Weir Layne Weir 6'7" | SF Bonney Lake | 2025 State WA (2025) – Bonney Lake HS , Tre Walker Tre Walker 5'9" | CG Mt Tahoma | 2024 State WA (2024) – Mount Tahoma HS
First Team Predictions:
Carter Williford Carter Williford 6'3" | CG Mt Tahoma | 2024 State WA (2024) – Mount Tahoma HS – see above.
Layne Weir Layne Weir 6'7" | SF Bonney Lake | 2025 State WA (2025) – Bonney Lake HS – Layne has a great frame, standing at 6’7″. He is a difficult player to match-up against due to his length. He rebounds the ball well, staying aggressive inside the paint and not being afraid to put his body on the line. Weir stretches the floor extremely well, being able to knock down deep shots with ease off the catch or off the dribble.
Tre Walker Tre Walker 5'9" | CG Mt Tahoma | 2024 State WA (2024) – Mount Tahoma HS – Tre was named first team all league last season when he was attending Silas HS but now he will be suiting up with Mount Tahoma and playing alongside one of the best guards in the conference in Williford. Walker handles the ball at a high level and facilitates offenses to a high level. He will fit next to Williford nicely and the two will be a top duo in the conference next season.
Wyatt Ulsh Wyatt Ulsh 6'6" | PF Lincoln | 2024 State WA (2024) – Lincoln (Tacoma) HS – Ulsh is a big framed post who stands at around 6’6″ and has a strong stature down in the paint. He uses his length to a high level on both sides of the ball, being able to block shots on the defensive side and finish easy lay-ups on the offensive side of the ball. He will have a bigger role in the offense next season and I could see him taking a jump on the court.
AJ Manning-Blanks AJ Manning-Blanks 5'11" | PG Spanaway Lake | 2024 State WA (2024) – Spannaway Lake HS – AJ was named as an honorable mention last season but definitely could’ve been voted onto either of the teams. He has fantastic handles, keeping the ball close to his body and rarely turning the ball over. He has the ball in his hands most of the time and does an excellent job at running the offense and finding his teammates for easy buckets.
