A scoring lead guard who competes with plenty of grit and toughness, Rivas can score at all three levels. He loves to get into the lane off the dribble for short jump shots or layups while also showing the ability to knock down three-point jump shots. His quickness, strength and confidence with the ball in his hands are tough to contain for any defender and he proved that last winter while averaging 20.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals in the highly competitive Badger Large Conference.

Rivas earned a big jump upward in the Prep Hoops Player Rankings and for good reason as the skilled lead guard had a big junior season for Baraboo while competing against rugged competition in the Badger Large Conference. Rivas received second-team all-league laurels after averaging 20.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals for the Thunderbirds. He made 42 three-point baskets and shot 74 percent from the foul line. In addition, Rivas was Baraboo’s primary ball handler and faced constant pressure from opposing guards.

After averaging 13.0 points as a sophomore starter for Baraboo, Rivas has elevated his game as a junior. The high-energy, extremely competitive and impressively skilled point guard scored 17 points for the Thunderbirds in their loss to Monona Grove. He was chased all over the court by multiple defenders, but still managed to score and distribute for a Baraboo squad that stuck with Monona Grove until the final five minutes. Rivas is an excellent ball handler, has good speed with the ball in his hands and is fearless driving to the basket. Just a solid all-around player with a bright future ahead of him.
