Expert Analysis
Jay Anderson | Prep Hoops Scout
Vazquez is an underrecruited prospect in the class at the No. 36 spot in the final rankings in North Carolina. Bridgewater has offered him so far as the first evaluation weekend approaches but it wouldn’t surprise to see him utilize an extra year of preparation on the post-grad scene to change things. He’s a matchup nightmare at 6-foot-6 with an ability to operate inside and out as he did this past season at Wayne Country Day where he produced 16.2 PPG and 8.1 RPG while racking up 11 double-doubles. He’s a name for DII and DIII programs to get eyes on in need of a versatile wing/forward. Check out a few of his highlights in his profile.

Vazquez is listed at the small forward spot simply because there’s no official “wing” slot in the prospects database just yet. He’s a versatile 6-foot-5 presence who’s shown he can operate as a slasher and playmaker with the ball in his hands at Wayne Country Day. He averaged 15.7 PPG and 8.3 RPG as a presence in the Chargers rotation in 2023-24, showing he can get to his spots off the bounce and play a role in the rebounding game. He’s a prospect for DI and DII programs in the region to get eyes on.

If WCD hopes to pull off the upset on the road, he’s the player that is going to need to have a huge night for his team. He’s a bigger guard that can score the ball from all three levels, guard multiple positions and doesn’t hesitate to take over a game in crunch time.

Vazquez is a matchup nightmare for opposing players in the Wayne Country Day School rotation. He’s putting up 17.1 PPG and 8.5 RPG and has put together five double-doubles across 13 games for the Chargers. Though listed at just 6-foot-5, he plays a lot bigger than that given his production around the painted area. He’s proven to be a factor on both ends of the floor with his ability to defend and battle on the glass. He’s managed to put up at least 14 points in their last four games, all victories while attacking the mid-range and painted area. He’s a name for DII and DIII programs in the region to get to know.

Vazquez dropped 22 in a huge win over Fayetteville Academy last week, including the game winning bucket. WCDS was 3-0 on the week, with him playing a huge part. He’s a physical wing who has a college level frame already at 6’5 210. He really knows how to get to the rim with his physicality and ability to change speeds and directions easily. He’s one of the best 2024s in ENC and proved it last week.

A player that we feel should have colleges calling his phone on a daily basis, he put his team on his back to lead them to an upset win over FA which is currently one of the favorites to compete for a state title. He scored 22 Points but more importantly, he controlled the tempo of the team offense, and made big time plays down the stretch.

opened things up for Wayne Country Day School with his ability to attack the basket and create shots off the bounce. He finished with 18 points as he showed he could co-exist with his two other forwards to find success. He does well with reading the defense and finding his spots to contribute with relative ease. He’s another prospect in the 2024 class that DII and DIII programs in the region would be wise to get eyes on given the energy he plays with on the floor.

Vazquez was impressive slashing to the rim and switching things up with his ability to attack in space. He did well to create opportunities for himself and was another heavy free-throw shooter who made FF defend him. He finished with 18 points and went 9-for-12 from the FT line.
