Expert Analysis
Jay Anderson | Prep Hoops Scout
Slay is another uber-athletic prospect with Top Shot Basketball to keep an eye on with guard skills as well. He’s able to defend a number of positions given his size and length on the floor. He’s got the strength to go along with it as well, showing he can hold his own in the painted area. He’s shown tremendous growth with his ability to move without the ball to find openings to make things happen. As his confidence and role continues to grow, look for his list of offers to grow over the weekend at Session II.

Slay was an all-around force for Top Shot Basketball 17’s as he posted a 17 point and 6 assist stat line in their first game, an OT loss against Pro One. He’s got great size at the guard spot, making it hard for defenders to contest him and getting more open looks because of his superior frame. Smooth looking jumper and shot it well when I saw him, I really like what his game has. Also a + intangibles guy for his effort and visible passion for the game whenever he’s on the floor.

Slay is a name for DI programs in the region to get on their radar early in the grassroots season. He had himself a productive season in the Carmel Christian rotation in 2023-24, posting 17.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 3.9 APG and 1.2 SPG on 36 percent shooting from deep as a junior. He knocked down 70 3-pointers, which ranked first in the NCISAA 4A, according to MaxPreps. He’s a prospect to keep eyes on with on the UA stage with Top Shot Basketball this spring/fall.

Slay is another big guard prospect to keep an eye on in the NCISAA ranks at Carmel Christian School. They’re hovering above .500 this season given new leadership on the sidelines, but Slay has managed to come into his own in his junior year, posting 17.6 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 3.8 APG and 1.1 SPG on 47 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent from deep. He’s grown tremendously after appearing with Top Shot Basketball on the UA scene this past grassroots cycle and starting to draw college interest from DI and DII programs in the region.

is a familiar face as he moves from the seventh spot into the sixth position in the latest update. His movement is minor though he remains a key piece on Team Curry’s UAA 2025 squad. He’s a 6-foot-5 wing prospect that can knock down shots on the perimeter and in the midrange and defends the basketball at a high level. He’s also quite the rebounder given his length and athleticism. Charlotte, Western Carolina, Marshall and Winthrop are a few mid-major programs to offer him.
