Expert Analysis

Baker is a big man for Colorado Magic who had himself a solid weekend. He did all of the things that you want to see in a big man, he was grabbing boards and getting it to a guard, setting hard screens, and rolling, and also showed flashes of an offensive block player. He slashed and was rewarded with easy finishes. He had his way down low and got some easy putbacks, and looks promising. He uses his size, boxes out for position, and does the little things that a lot of other bigs weren’t. You can see parts of his game that is going to translate, and he’s a player that I am excited to see more of moving forward.

Braeden Bakar has been a crucial piece of the puzzle as of late for the Raiders, tacking on multiple double-digit scoring outings this past month on limited minutes. The 6’6 big man is ranked #57 in his class while being the best C/PF in his class. I easily expect Baker to turn up the temperature as the postseason comes nearer and nearer. Getting to the free thow line often and bodying defenders down low, it’s easy to see why Baker is such a legitimate threat.

Baker is quickly making his presence felt for Regis, and his size alone changes the game. At 6’6, he’s a real problem on both ends of the floor, using improving footwork and technique to keep opponents off the block while attacking the glass for boards and blocks. Defensively the upside is obvious and offensively he’s growing more comfortable with the ball in his hands, and once he gets a head of steam, he’s tough to slow down. The combination of size, effort and developing skill set makes Baker a name to keep circling as his game continues to rise

Baker has size and is using his length to be disruptive defensively. To be able to affect the game he will have to be a force on that side of the ball and from what we saw from him this summer, he appears to be ready to make his stamp on Regis this year. To be one of the young guys getting a chance in his sophomore season, shows the potential and the work ethic. We saw him own the glass, run the floor and protect the paint and now he gets to do those things this upcoming year when called upon. We expect him to get opportunity to be a difference-maker and a spark plug for a veteran led squad and he’s a underclassmen to know that will jump on the radar this season.
