Expert Analysis
Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
Sosa showed promising flashes off the bench throughout the summer and fall as he got acclimated to varsity competition, but has now entrenched himself as a starter and the returns are certainly promising based on his play in Salisbury. The crafty lead guard split time on and off the ball, approaching double figures in both his games while using his quickness and natural two-way instincts to make an impact across the floor game. While he struggled with his efficiency as a scorer, the blend of touch, creativity, and confidence that he shows from each level of the floor leaves plenty of reason for long-term optimism as he adds strength and continues learning the speed of the game. Considered to be at the top of his class in Delaware heading into high school, there’s been no signs of slippage in Sosa’s game as he looks to continue to carry the mantle in the First State for years to come.

Sosa’s comfort playing within himself and the scheme while also making splash plays is impressive. He displays explosiveness as a defender, shooting the gap in help, putting the clamps on guys on-ball, and even erasing some shots. On the other end, Sosa showcases complementary and versatile skills with the potential to do more in the near future. He efficiently attacks the basket off the dribble or off the catch, makes solid reads as a passer, and confidently shoots it from deep.

Sosa will likely be the first guard off the bench for Sallies but he is sure to bring a spark. With his eyes on the rim, he can knock down jumpers or get into the teeth of the defense. However, the greatest value Sosa can add won’t show up on the box score. He can pressure other guards on defense and, in lineups with Wright, he can be another ball-handler who tilts the defense for their shooters and gets the ball to their bigs inside.

For an aggressive offensive player who can get his from deep or in the paint, Sosa competes just as hard on defense. He actively goes for steals at the point of attack while also looking for ways to exploit the opposing defense.
