I thought that McCruter taking a post-grad year was an excellent decision for a late blooming prospect who showed flashes but still needed time before he could contribute at the college level. McCruter’s flashes are becoming more consistent and his body is starting to fill out. Add in the fact he’s shooting 3-pointers with more confidence and mixing it up in the paint as shown by a putback slam dunk on the first possession of the game and McCruter is trending upwards at the right time. I expect to see a sharp increase in recruitment for McCruter as he’s a no-brainer full scholarship target either at the Division II/NAIA level and worth a look for low major Division I programs as well.

McCruter is playing for Spire Academy as a post-grad, which is a move that I think will greatly benefit his game and overall recruitment. Standing at 6-foot-9 with intriguing length, McCruter didn’t waste much time on Saturday leaving his imprint on the game. Playing alongside

(VCU) in the frontcourt, the two act as very impactful shot disruptors around the rim defensively. McCruter showcased active hands in the passing lanes to turn deflections into run-out opportunities and when he was in the open floor, showed off his improved pop by getting eye-level with the rim on dunks. Throughout the weekend he also showed some touch on his catch-and-shoot corner three. McCruter fits the mold as a late-blooming hybrid forward whose best days are ahead of him.

McCruter played huge for Big Walnut in the 2nd half. He was so good in spots offensively tonight. Big Walnut has a lot of kids who can score the ball and need to get their shots up. McCruter did a great job of being efficient with his touches and shots. He got a couple of buckets and a dunk. During this stretch of the game, you could see him gain confidence and get in a rhythm. He got to his right hand well and finished. He hit shots. His length is a huge factor on the defensive end. He can guard a lot of positions and got a couple of blocks tonight.

The flash plays McCruter makes are so intriguing as his ability to move on the perimeter at his size makes him such an interesting prospect with lots of long-term upside. McCruter had two steals where he raced down the court and finished with monster slam dunks, showing his end-to-end speed and athleticism. Also flashing a little ball handling ability off rebounds as well, McCruter keeps trending up. He will need to do some serious work in the weight room to handle the physicality of the college game but sky is the limit for this available 2025 prospect.

McCruter used his length to collect rebounds with ease. He showed the he could be a threat from the dunker spots with an alley-oop. He runs the floor like a dear and is long as a country mile. He continues to get better with time. He is slowly starting to scratch the surface and best basketball is still ahead of him. He added 10 points. McCruter should be on the radar of postgraduate programs up and down the Eastern seaboard! As his blend of athleticism, size and potential is shown is his game.

McCruter is an incredibly intriguing big prospect who can move his feet latterly and vertically, incredibly nimble for his height. It’s why McCruter has not only gained basketball recruiting interest, but also for college track and field teams. I’ve been impressed with McCruter’s hands, length and ability to play above the rim. Hoping to see his impact become more consistent and his productivity spike as a senior because the tools are all there. McCruter is on the right track to not only being an intriguing college prospect to watch, but also a player who can help his high school program win right now. If Big Walnut is going to compete with the best of the best in Division II from central Ohio, they’ll need McCruter to be impactful at both ends in the paint.

McCruter is a very interesting player because when you walk into the gym his size jumps out at you. Then you see him play and he plays similar to a guard. He has a smooth and high-releasing jumper that is knocked down. He makes tough shots consistently because it is hard to contest him. He puts the ball on the ground and can make plays for himself. He is long and is a nice rim protector. So he has the qualities of a big player as well. Skilled basketball player.

One of the more intriguing players on the Prep Hoops Circuit from Ohio, McCruter had a stock rising spring where he took his game to the next level. A late bloomer as a big, McCruter has a lot of skills that are hard to teach. His size, natural movement skills and frame are a great combo and he improves offensively each time I watch him. Big Walnut has a nice foundation with a mix of senior talent and youth as they should be ready to contend for conference championships starting this winter. McCruter has started to get the ball rolling in his recruitment and I don’t expect it to slow down anytime soon as more schools familiarize themselves with his game.

A late blooming big man, McCruter has had a strong spring on the Prep Hoops Circuit with the Ohio Saints. Athletic enough to get on the rim when he has a clear loading zone, McCruter is a mis-match with his size and athleticism. Getting limited minutes as a Junior on a deep Big Walnut squad, expect McCruter to get some more action this season as he continues to develop. Wouldn’t mind seeing McCruter go take a redshirt, JUCO or post grad year to continue to develop before getting ready to impact a four year college basketball game. Lots of upside with McCruter and he improves each time I watch him play.

McCruter is one heck of a prospect. He has unbelievable tools – height, length, and athletic ability. He moves so fluidly and is very coordinated. He plays inside and out as he can score on every level of the floor. He has a nice midrange pull-up game. He handles the ball well. He is a nice rim protector. He has a unicorn-type vibe to his game. He is an exciting player.
