Austin was producing at a high level in a matchup with Ray Allen Select . The 6’5 forward was working on both ends of the floor, rebounding hard, competing for position on the block, and consistently sprinting rim-to-rim. In the half-court he flashed shooting touch from beyond the arc, able to step out and hit the open three in a way I hadn’t seen out of him before. Besides that he was still his usual self finishing hard at the basket, able to convert through contact for two points. Such a consistent producer with how hard he plays in the paint.

Watched in team’s 1st game of evening and what stood out first was his motor and instincts. Played against a little more size and continued to crash the glass on both ends. Secured some tough rebounds in traffic while also creating a couple extra possessions on the offensive end. Showed good positional awareness to challenge drivers at the cup. Spaces the floor at times with spot up catch and shoot 3’s within flow. Battled beneath throughout and is a reliable asset that understands the game with smart IQ feel.

Austin put in a scrappy performance on night one for the Milwaukee Trailblazers. At 6’5 he’s a hard working forward who sprints rim to rim, crashes the glass, and can finish through contact. In their opening night win Austin racked up 12 points, primarily through transition finishes and put-backs. He showed the body control to either finish through contact or rise up above a contesting defender to finish with efficiency. Look for him to continue providing energy and production for this team all spring.

Austin was making an impact on both ends of the floor for Milwaukee Trail Blazers on Friday night. I was really impressed by his effort on the glass, as Austin was coming up with possession in traffic consistently, combining his long frame with the ability to high point missed shots. Also had a huge swat on the defensive end. Offensively he was at his best cutting without the ball to earn chances at the rim, but showed comfort to shoot the open three when given too much space.
