The 6’0 combo guard from Cathedral Prep has developed into a true three-level scoring threat. He can attack off the bounce, finish at the rim, get to a pull-up in the midrange, and now stretch the floor with real confidence from deep. Defenders have to respect the jumper, which creates room for his first step to get into the lane. His balance and footwork are a major part of that because, while his game is high-paced, it is always under control.

He also takes pride in his defense and can lock down both guards and bigger forwards. Wibur was rewarded with D10 second team honors after last season. Wilbur has the first-step quickness to get defenders off balance, the handle to create separation, and the touch to finish once he gets into the lane. He plays with craft. The pull-up game, floater, and improved three-point shooting are what raise his ceiling. If defenders sit back, he can shoot it. If they crowd him, he gets into the paint. If the floor opens up, he has the feel to create his own look or make the next read. The fact that he also brings defensive activity and on-ball toughness only strengthens the profile.

His production from freshman year at Mercyhurst Prep to sophomore at Cathedral Prep has increased significantly. He has truly become a complete scorer who scores at all three levels. He is the type of defender that turns hustle plays into points. Big moments in games don’t intimidate him. I see big things coming for him over his next few years at Cathedral Prep.

The jumper is the real thing, and he’s confident pulling up off the dribble or spotting up from deep. Wilbur has quality handles and is comfortable enough running the point when needed.  Defensively, he is a competitor and takes pride in keeping the ball in front. The sources I spoke with praise the work he put in over the summer. He transferred from Mercyhurst Prep to Cathedral Prep, positioning him to impact winning right away in a bigger spotlight.

He has a nice jump shot off the dribble and a quality midrange game. Defensively, he is a lockdown defender. Over the summer, Ashton has put in significant work to continue improving his game. Although he is young, he’ll be a name to know around District 10 by the end of the season.

He excels at finishing at the rim — his quick first step and solid ball-handling skills, including a sharp crossover, keep him blowing past defenders. Ashton is particularly shifty with the ball in his hands, thriving in one-on-one situations where he can attack his defender. With a good midrange game, he keeps defenses honest and can score from various spots on the floor. Defensively, Ashton is a lockdown defender who brings intensity to every possession. His commitment on both ends of the floor demonstrates a high level of maturity for a player of his age.

He has excellent court vision and knows how to run an offense. Wilbur boasts a quality crossover and likes it when he gets into 1-on-1 situations. Once he gets into the lane, he finishes well and shows good footwork and balance. Wilbur is a good shooter, especially off the dribble.
