Pierre Brooks Pierre Brooks 6'5" | SG Detroit Douglass | 2021 State #76 Nation MI (Detroit Frederick Douglass): Brooks is the obvious choice for best senior-to-be in Detroit. He is the #1 player in the state, and has committed to Michigan State, turning down offers from Arizona State, DePaul, Illinois, Michigan, and others. The 6’5 forward has a strong upper body which he uses to get to the rim, and is a great scorer and an underrated playmaker, who will improve even more. Brooks has also continued to improve his 3-point shot.
Omar Ziegler Omar Ziegler 6'5" | CG Detroit King | 2021 State MI (Detroit King High School): Ziegler is an extremely athletic point guard, who loves to get out in transition and make plays for himself and his teammates. The 6’1 point guard has earned offers from Mississippi State, Morehouse College, and University of Illinois-Chicago, and will likely add more in the coming months. Ziegler, who is the 14th ranked senior-to-be in Michigan, also has a high level mid-range game and likes to use a right-handed floater.
Javantae Randle Javantae Randle 6'9" | PF Detroit Frederick Douglass | 2021 State MI (Detroit Frederick Douglass): Randle joins his teammate Brooks as the second player on this list from Detroit Frederick Douglass. He is a 6’9 power forward, who clogs up the middle of the paint and blocks a ton of shots, which should translate to the next level. Randle has also improved his offense game, expanding his range and handling ability. He has an offer from Detroit Mercy, and is ranked #24 heading into his senior campaign.
Mak Manciel Mak Manciel 6'3" | CG Sterling Heights Stevenson | 2021 State MI (Detroit Country Day): Manciel is the 35th ranked senior-to-be in Michigan, but I think he has a good chance to rise over the next year. He has an extremely smooth offensive game and has arguably the cleanest jump shot on this list. The 6’3 combo guard likes to go to his step-back jumper, but also has a really quick crossover which allows him to get into the paint. I think he needs to improve his defensive impact a little bit but he has time to work on that.
JonMarcus Roland JonMarcus Roland 6'2" | CG UD Jesuit | 2021 State MI (UD Jesuit): Roland creates a lot of chaos on the court, leading to a lot of blocks, deflections, and steals. On offense, he likes to hang out around the rim and is able to finish well through contact. The 6’2 forward is ranked a couple spots ahead of Manciel at #33, and could climb even higher if he expands his range even further. Also, Roland might have to change positions at some point since 6’2 is undersized for the small forward spot.
