I like to take a look at my annual “Top-5’s”.
Every player has their 1 skill they usually excel at.
It’s just a fun way to take a look at players’ elite skills in different categories.
We move over to the 6 passers. These are the players who can make their teammates better around them.
Here are my Top-5:
1. Raydon Thorson Raydon Thorson 5'11" | PG Phhoenix Prep | 2023 State AZ (Queen Creek)
-This skill was actually a close one at the top with multiple players but I think Thorson has the slight edge. He played in a difficult 6A region with Mountain Pointe and Desert Vista and averaged 5 assists per game. He makes many next level passes per game with some flash.
2. Josh Deakyne Josh Deakyne 6'0" | PG Heritage Academy | 2022 State AZ (Heritage Maricopa) (Pictured)
-The #2 assist per game player in the class at 6.4, guided their young team to a final-4 game in the CAA. Also has volleyball line 3pt range.
3. Sidney Wooten Sidney Wooten 5'10" | PG Phh Prep | 2022 State AZ (Sunnyslope)
-A nice blend of scorer and passer. A cerebral player makes plays and can score it from all levels.
4. Miles Nash Miles Nash 6'2" | PG Brophy Prep | 2022 State AZ (Brophy Prep)
-A pure PG can get into the lane and dissect a defense. He can score it in the paint and shoot the 3.
5. Quinn Thorne Quinn Thorne 6'0" | PG Corona Del Sol | 2022 State AZ (Corona del Sol)
-A true PG is very smart and can make pinpoint passes to teammates in traffic. He can also shoot it from deep.
1-more:
1. Michael Oneal Michael Oneal 6'4" | CG Skyline Prep | 2022 AZ (Camelback)
-A bigger guard with great length and passing ability. He dominated JV and it will be interesting if he can make that impact on varsity next year.
