NorCal Unsigned 2020 Shooting Guards – Part II

Here is a look at another group of Nor Cal shooting guards in the class of 2020 who have not made a college choice yet.

6’2 [player_tooltip player_id="952827" first="Elijah" last="Alonso"] - Dublin HS, Dublin

Alonso is an instant offense combo guard who can really fill it up when he gets rolling. He’s a confident shooter with long range. He moves over to the one at times because his ball handling skills are more than adequate. But he makes his “living” as a shooter. And he can also get to the basket on the drive. Alonso is a solid rebounder from the guard position. He merits consideration for a Division II program who needs a marksman.

6’4 [player_tooltip player_id="603832" first="Shane" last="Bell"] - Salesian Prep, Richmond

Bell is a long and athletic guard/wing with a nice all-around game at both ends of the floor. He finishes well in transition and he finds ways to score in the half court. He also moves well without the ball which is not very common. Bell is a solid rebounder and defender who can block a shot at times. He is somewhat over-looked on the recruiting scene and does merit a look from low majors. He is a no-brainer for Division II schools. (His team finished the season at 25-7.)

6’4 [player_tooltip player_id="952822" first="Jack" last="Byers"] - De La Salle HS, Concord

Byers is a heady player who maximizes everything he has. He shows some ability to score every way possible (shot, drive, post up, pull up) and moves real well without it. But shooting is his best asset for sure. If you need a bucket you want the ball in his hands. Byers’s high IQ and shooting touch puts him very prominently on the Division II radar. He lead his team as the only senior starter to a 24-8 record and the championship game in Nor Cal Division I.

6’3 [player_tooltip player_id="952796" first="Marcus" last="Greene"] - Archbishop Mitty HS, San Jose

Greene is an energetic and athletic combo guard with a solid skill set. He attacks in transition and finishes nicely. He has proven himself as a perimeter shooter with range and is very effective in the catch and shoot mode. He gets to the basket on the drive with a nice first step and a solid hesitation move. What Greene brings to the table and the motor he plays with merit low major consideration. He is an easy call for Division II schools. He comes from a winning program that finished the year at 23-5 and made it to the semi-finals of the Nor Cal Open (highest) division.

6’4 [player_tooltip player_id="952854" first="Evan" last="Johnson"] - Capital Christian HS, Sacramento

The list of ways Johnson can put the ball in the basket is very long. He has demonstrated the ability to score in many ways (perimeter shot, floater, drive, post up). And he is real athletic with nice burst and the ability to elevate. Johnson can do it in transition and in the half court. He’s also a good passer and a hard worker on the defensive end who can also play the three or one. He’s worth low major consideration and has the potential to be an elite Division II player.

6’1 [player_tooltip player_id="952866" first="Jalen" last="Scott"] - St Patrick–St Vincent HS, Vallejo

Scott is a long and athletic two guard with some burst. He’s a capable ball handler and a good passer who can push the break and make plays (can finish). He has a nice middle game in the half court. Scott is a good shooter with long 3-point range and has a nice floater. He is somewhat inconsistent at times but he is a legitimate Division II prospect.

6’1 [player_tooltip player_id="603843" first="Josh" last="Williams"] - Sheldon HS, Sacramento

Williams is a fairly athletic combo guard with some versatility. He handles it well, can pass it and can make plays in transition. He has a solid pull up game in the half court. He shoots it fairly well with 3 range (catch and shoot) and penetrates consistently. Williams is a nice Division II prospect.
