Brayde Kuykendell: A Polished 3-Level Scorer
Brayde Kuykendell of Cal High (San Ramon, CA) has the kind of game that doesn’t force the issue, but when it was time to take over on the St. Mary’s campus, he did so with ease. In Cal High’s matchup against Sac High, Kuykendell let the game come to him early, then flipped the switch when his team needed a spark, scoring chunks of points at times. Brayde’s scoring burst showcased his full offensive bag. He got to his spots with ease, using his size, footwork, and feel to go either direction and mixed in midrange pull-ups, floaters, and strong finishes through contact. He ended the half with a couple of big and-1 plays that helped Cal High regain momentum.
At 6’6”, Kuykendell is a natural three-level scorer. He doesn’t just hunt 3-point shots; he finds high-percentage looks, whether it’s pulling up in space, attacking the rim, or spotting up from deep. His ability to read the defense and adjust without rushing makes him incredibly efficient.
It’s going to be fun to watch Brayde Kuykendell this upcoming season and the following years to come at Santa Clara University.
