With no return to the hardwood on the immediate horizon, they’ll have to hope their season and playoff performances will be enough. Here’s a look at some of the top unsigned seniors from the Coliseum League who no doubt could help a college team at the D1-DIII, NAIA or even JuCo levels.
1. Rodney Bradley – View Park
Bradley is a very consistent and methodical scorer. He’s adept at getting to the elbows in one to two dribbles and pulling up for a midrange jumper. He creates separation on his shot and he can get his shot off against most defenders. Can get to the rim with ease and finish strong. Defensively, he is solid on the wing and he moves his feet well to keep up.
2. Fidelis Okereke Fidelis Okereke 6'6" | C King/Drew | 2020 State CA-S – King/Drew
One of the most impressive big men in City Section this season; he currently has an offer from Cal State Dominguez. Some might consider him a bit undersized for his position, but he more than makes up for it with his motor. He’s a defensive anchor who times his blocks well. He can also keep up with some wings on the perimeter. Offensively, he can score in the paint as well as step out and shoot from three.
3. Deshawn Johnson – Washington Prep
Johnson was also one of the top big men in City Section this season. He’s a dual sport athlete, he also plays football, and he was a handful for opposing bigs to guard. He has a versatile skill-set, he can handle the ball at times and he can stretch the defense with his shooting range. He’s strong in the paint and can finish around the rim. Good rebounder and decent defender.
4. Justin Cornelius – Crenshaw
One of the most impressive things about Cornelius is his athletic ability. He’s always looking to finish around the rim; his guards know they can lob the ball up in the vicinity and he’ll go get it. Defensively though is where he can shine when he wants to. He uses his strong wing defense to create turnovers and transition opportunities. He’s a good rebounder too and a decent three-point shooter.
